I am wanting to get this piece and it mentioned something about possibly having to hack the vent ducting to make the gauges fit. Has anyone experienced this? I am just wondering as I want to get either a 2 or 3 gauge panel and don't want the hassle of cutting the ducting.

I have a three gauge. I did have to cut the duct work to allow clearance for the gauges.

Was it the third one that got in the way??? I used to run digital gauges there but they were shallow. I want to use autometer but want to be sure it will fit if I can get away with two. I don't truly need three.

If I remember correctly the middle gauge was the main issue. I'm using two autometers and a Turbo smart boost controller. The boost controller is in the middle but I'm pretty sure it is the thinest of them. I would say your probably going to have to trim the duct work to use this item.

I've done it with three 2-5/8" gauges. I didn't have to cut the vent ducting but you do have to cut into the dash structure somewhat with a hole saw. If you are careful, this can be done and the results are very nice. I was happy with the outcome of mine. I also incorporated the autometer angled rings and that gave me additional clearance. However, using these rings required me to oblong the gauge holes in the panel slightly. Again, with patience and care, this will look very nice when done. It will take at least a weekend to do this right.

Here's the custom panel that Mark made for me.

They are. They slide onto the gauge prior to sliding the gauge into the hole, and you have to cut one leg of the C-shaped retainer bracket shorter than the other.

I like the angled 3 gauge with Intercooler engraved panel.

Rob! Looks great with the angled cups. Might actually have to finally do something with my own GN.:D Mind if I use that pic on my site???

This is the page the gauge panels can be ordered from. http://buickgn.com/Gaugepanels.htm

Mark, I wanted to use autometer sport comp gauges. Probably only 2 but maybe 3. do you know if there are clearance issues without the angled cups?

i'll trade my stock panel that has 3 gauges in it (oil pressure, trans temp, and vacuum/boost) to anyone for a nice stock piece.
they are older mechanical Autometer gauges, and they are mounted with the angled bases that point towards the driver. but i think having the gauges there in an otherwise uncluttered and well packaged Buick interior just looks cheesy.
if anyone is interested, shoot me a PM..

Mark,

You are welcome to use these pics on your website. If you need better ones with the glove box door on I'll be glad to get you those. I kept putting off getting a pic to you and just snapped these this morning for Scott.

This panel and these gauges really look good in my interior. I also have a 2-5/8 boost gauge and tach to the right of the speedo panel, and Mark's Riviera-style 140 mph speedo panel. It all looks really good.

Did you cut the stock piece to work with the gauges??? Did it work? I think I'd rather do that anyways.

No, I did not cut the stock piece to work with the gauges. I believe that using it would give you a little more space for the gauges, but I also think that the panel made by Mark would offer greater stability or mounting surface strength for the gauges.

i didn't put the gauges in it- the previous owner did it sometime in the 80's, i think. it looks nice, but i don't like he way the gauges look way over there, and it is kind of a stretch to look quickly over there to see the gauges. i'd rather have a door pillar mount, but i can do without the gauges for now.. like i said, if you have a nice, unmolestered stock piece, i'll trade you even up- including the gauges..

I manufacture a gauge mount that uses existing holes in the dash frame and alters nothing - no cutting or screwing in to anything in the dash.

I believe it is the only mount that holds three full sized gauges near the dash that does not block the windshield or the HVAC Vents.

That is beautiful, how much do you sell those for and where can you get them? Do you sell them for 2 1/16 gauges?
