Anyone want to know the limit of a stock 84 shortblock?

Since I got a stock motor to put in my car until the "real" one is done, I've thought about reliability. I figured I would leave the stock cam, heads, and intake on it and run it easy. But another part of me wants to put the good parts in it that are just laying around and once my good motor is finished, turn the wick up and see if it fails. Only problem is I will most likely distroy the cam and possibly heads too if it doesn't hold. Am I crazy? Anyone want to place a bet?

Hey Matt. I finally getting closer to getting mine done. It finally has a tranny that shifts decent but still having some issues with it. The dumass had to build it 3 times before he got it right. Now it seems alot better but it doesn't want to come out of gear for upshifts. I can adjust the tv cable out yet just havent had a chance to do it because the first thing I had to do was pull my heater core. I has a leak and major fog! But I got a few good pulls at 12 psi of boost and holy sh*t. I have some crossfire missing under load and I had a header gasket blow out but other then that it ran good. Hopefully I will have the bugs out soon and finally get to make a run at the track Oct 25.
