Looking to buy a GM Extended warranty for my 02' Tahoe. They are transferrable from different dealerships so it doesn't matter where I buy it. Want to know if this "supposedly" best, lowest price out there is a good deal or not.
You didn't say what they wanted to charge you for it, but if you must buy an ext warr, stay with the GM program-can save a lot of hassle when you break down 300 miles from home.
Definately stay with the GM warranty. I dealt with tons of aftermarket warranty companies while at GM in the service drive and it was a fight, begining to end with nearly all of them except GM. The shops get screwed on hours and rate, and the techs don't like being shorted hours flagged. The GM warranty is simply a phone call in most cases and can be handled thru an automated system for most repairs. Their warranty is good at any dealership nationwide also. A lot of the aftermarket companies shop price and I have seen delays as long as 3 days just for a window motor or A/C system repair. As far as cost go, it is set by GM. A lot of dealer F&I departments (they normally sell the warranties) like selling the aftermarket warranties because they make more money on those coverages. Mark
