Hey guys, merry Xmas! My parents blazer has a massive oil leak, I went underneath and noticed one of the rubber oil line's going to the oil relocator kit (fac) is leaking ALOT. So i took off the one end , NP, BUT the other end goes to the back of the block. It is SO tight back there I cant even remove the 1/2 inch bolt holding into place. Seems like i need to lower the front trans axle to get to it????? Any ideas??? I am stranded!

thanks!
Ralph

If it is coming ffrom the actual flexible line, then they have rubbed together and one or both are leaking. I was going to suggest the "quick connect" ends. The Orings have a tendency to flatten out and leak and GM still has them for sale. Maybe even one of the support brackets has rubbed thru the hose(s). Good luck and Merry Christmas.

i had similar leak on mine
the hose end for the external lines is similar to the a/c lines on the back of the a/c compressor , 13mm bolt down the center and use similar orings , had to use a long extension and a swivel socket to get at it and thought for sure the oring was the issue
then i found the adapter was leaking and after getting that off and expecting to find an oring there i found it takes a gasket which i had fun locating and was a pain to clean off the block to reseal

heres a the link to the felpro gasket kit and youll see the gasket im talking about

Check with GM, I know there was a recall for leaking oil lines on certain 4.3 vortec trucks. Call and have them run your VIN.

Yeah, might try that. My '98 only has ~60k on it and I've been through 3 sets of oil lines. Crappy design, leaks at the crimps every time.

Dorman makes replacement lines for some of the Blazers. Where they crimp the rubber hose to the hard line is usually where they leak.

Just use a big prybar and pry off frame to bottom of oil pan. While holding prybar have someone slide line straight forward.IF the oil cooler adapter gasket and o-ring have to be replaced that kind of sucks. But if your just replacing lines it is tight but the lines will come out without dropping diff.

Unbolt LH engine mount, jack up engine, 3ft extension and a long handle ratchet. In and out no problem. Don't forget about the bracket holding the lines to the block, and change the adapter gasket and o-ring while you're there.

thanks guys I appreciate. Yep it is leaking at the crimp area, ALOT!. There is oil everywhere! I also have a bar that goes between the lines at the end. This bar goes from the bar to the transaxle. so once I get that out of the way i will lift motor a tad and try again with the ext. Dorman sells it for $66 or was thinking of stopping at nappa.

thanks guys!!

We have a 96 Blazer AND a 98 Jimmy. Always throwing parts at them.:) Has your plastic radiator sprung a leak yet? 4wd crap out? Heater core leaking? Injectors messed up?

Oil lines, I have replaced the easy ones but haven't done the block ones yet. Minor leak right now on the 96. Got the lines and thought it would be an easy job but walked away from it when I realized you have to jack up the motor, hope to make it until spring and will try then.

Have done the injectors on both but believe your 95 has a different setup. Both have had the radiators crack in the same place. Did the heater core on the 96, now that was a fun job. Problems with both with the 4wd, go to push the 4wd button and it won't go in. That is usually caused by a vacuum switch only about $15 for the part. The 98 just did that the other day during a snowstorm. Was really cold out and wouldn't transfer. Now that it has warmed up it works fine.

All in all though they are not that bad a vehicle, my 96 has 163K on it and wife's 98 has 88k.

TR, we have the spider injector. That was replaced with the regulator , i did it myself, not bad. I got the latest design. The car has been pretty damn good to us except for the rattles. At 100k it jsut got a new trans. When I was under the truck i noticed the body mounts and control arm bushings are severly cracked, I guess it is to be expected on a 14 year old truck. My parents are looking at the new Buick Enclave or GMC acadia and keep the blazer on the side. Any of you guys have these new trucks??? I know they had some cam issues in the beginning, thats been fixed and also the dual moonroof tends to leak. So no moonroof for us.

Well guys, it is fixed. replacing this host was a real PITA. Took me about 3 hours to do, insane. I found the leak on the old unit. the rubber came out of the coupler where the 3 crimps are ! Looks like the metal expanded over the years and got the rubber hose lose, scary! It was the oil pressure feed line!

keep an eye on yuors!

thanks guys
Ralph
