I needed to transfer a file over to my laptop I use on the car, if has no floppy, nor does my home PC, so I sent it to my aol email. I don't have the AOL software on my car laptop either.
So I connect it to my DSL, open IE and went to aol.com selected mail and keyed in my userid and pw and it just haung there for several minutes.... I finally got to my mail but the next time I opened EI I was directed to some other website instead of my homepage something like www.finditnow ... com
I'll be dam, AOL installed a virus , Project1 on my machine!!! I tried to go thru the removal process I found on various websites and it did not work... no now I'm formatting C: and having to reload everything... luckily I just built this laptop a few weeks ago so nothing critial was lost.
I guess now that AOL is free they load your PC with adware and all kinds of stuff...this was the FIRST time this PC had even been connected to the internet so that was the only website it went to beside the homepage which was google.
