Have not been to the track in a long time. Are we holding our own against all these new blown v8's & bottle fed cars?

For the most part

In my limited track experience, mostly all test and tune, or fun day, it seems that running into the high 7s will hurt most "street" cars. It seems if the LS1s or Mustangs run over a 100 shot of Nitrous, their ETs can be down into the 7s and a good race. But stock cars, I've seen the LS1s and C5s run high 8s. I raced a 02 C5 last night that went 8.9 @ 82, when I landed my best ET:D

had a good night on friday-

my buddy and i have been putting his car into a more street/daily driven ride instead of looking for that 10 second time slip on race gas/ slicks-

lets just say 7.72 at 95ish and 11.78 at 121 on radials, 91 octane pump gas, alky, and a ERIC MARSHALL chip is what made this car the fastest street car driven/raced at our track that night on 91 octane-

it was funny watching the guys in the LS1'S runnig 12.20's at 112 going balls out on a 6 grand launch and pulling the tires to make the people in the crowd go:eek:

there were alot of faster cars trailered to the track, but none faster on radials as we did,...

just depends on what your looking for

11's with no bar= banned for life,... which is what happened,
or run 12's and not have to worry about getting kicked out on a soft launch... YET it still went 11.78 and we are done there for the year:(

oh, the cars worst pass was 13.16 at 61MPH, had to make sure we didnt get kicked out on the first few passes in the 1/4

ehh something is wrong with your stock LS1's

most stock ls1's will bust off 8.50s with a good driver.. and that is showroom stock.

i know this because i was running my 8.60s when a friend was driving his new at the time 02 z28.. 8.53 was his best run that day

Lets just say at the local 1/8 mile I let a ZO6 have a three car jump and passed him waving bye-bye at 1/2 track and put about 4-5 more car lengths on him.HAHA there is your 400hp vette for ya!I ran a 7.42 the other night hardly trying, just needed to leave with some boost, I beat that vette without a boost launch.I am not afraid.

I gotta be straight with ya guys. Around here middle TN, BG KY, Huntsville Ala & Knoxville , we aren't representing.

In the mid & late 90's I was one of if not THE fastest "street cars" in the area with my high 6 high 10 GN. I put my car up as my priorites changed with getting old but now if I came back out i'd be on the mid to low side of average. LS1s and Mustangs are getting faster and faster around here. There's a C-5 in Knoxville that's a daily driver running 7.00s not hooking.

I have a buddy with a Stang that runs 6.50s on MOTOR and drives it everywhere.

Down south the street and track action is pretty competitive and there isn't many T-Rs around here anyway and the ones that are, aren't representing. Just being honest.:)

Those guys arent all over the place they are actually few and far between.LS1s on 150 shot give me no trouble most times and the blown mustangs and such are mostly 13 second cars with the occasional one that puts out some real power. We have a local mustang guy that has a dyno proven 630+ hp and still can't better a 12.0 at the 1/4 mile track. He only wants to race 1/2 mile on the highway.Oh and he has 3.73 gears too.We do have some real BAD stangs around here but they are little more than race only rigs.I ran into a buddy friday with his stang and he was only running 7.9s-8.0s in the 1/8 with victor jr. heads,intake,850 carb, roller cam, stall in a c-4,4.30 gears, suspension work,6 point roll bar etc. LAME! I am not impressed with most of them, but you do have a point they are getting faster.....thats why there is a TA block on its way to my house.

Irving. Are you going to noble? If it gets here by then I will have it there to show some people.I have heard a few have been recieved already.Mine may come a little later because I won't be building it right away, they want to get blocks to the guys that are waiting to put it together right away.Mine is getting bored and stroked to a 4.5 when I have the parts ready. That with a t-88 and fast system,stage2 heads or the new ta heads should be real fast.

i hear ya, here in town we have 2 Z06 vettes with the procharger setups and slicks....
with a good driver they only get high 11's at 119 -121 last time i saw them at the track..might be faster now but:rolleyes:
650 horses and only 119??????

i watched them run and talked with the installer{buddy of mine} and i said, " i thought they were supposed to run that fast stock?"
LOL

he didnt say anything and walked away....

i talked the the driver and he said he couldnt put all the power down so that why it wasnt going that fast....
i agreed and then asked ,... well, why doesnt it pickup more MPH at the top end???

he said it had too much belt slippage, i agreed and then mentioned to him that they just stepped the car up from the stock ribbed pulleys to 2 more ribs.... he didnt know i was at the shop when they up'd the belt ribs....

some cars are just dyno queens/ desk top dyno believers and dont get the job done....

whats more impressive is the guys you see at the track getting the job done week after week year after year going faster everytime you see them-
1/2 the guys at the track i dont get to talk to, but recognize the cars cause they are there every week-
its cool watching some of the cars going from 13's to 12's to 11's to 10's with hard work-

i get a kick out of the guys with blowers on the 4.6 running 13's at 109:rolleyes:

here in town the supras are pretty quick, i think there are 7 or more built to run 10s
3 of them have done a 10 second time slip, 1 of them actually has done it more than once:rolleyes:
he has proof of 25K in mods, best is 10.20 at 140:eek:

I know its funny.I have alot more in mine than I have been pulling but thats because I am taking it easy building up to max potential. These brand X guys go out and give it hell and can't even hang with a budget built v-6.Heck my car has a NA 231 crank with no caps or girdle and a little cam and it holds together good. The guys out here just blow those LS1s and whatever cubic inch ford they are running this week up.Even the turbo mustang guys here are just running low 7s in the 1/8.I still have some left to go because I don't push the car that hard.

Up here, there just isn't that many guys running GN's. I was the only car at the track SAT and probably one of the top 5 fastest cars there that were not tubbed/lexan race cars. I would say we are not growing in ##'s but still capable of holding our own, if we choose to work on it.

There was a Mustang running upper 9's, but he was on NOS, so I expect that.

Some old fast cars, I like watching those guys, die hards.

Fastest run there was a 8.41 and that was a beautiful Buick V8 full drag race car, rumored to have $$ on that race against a early 70's Camaro.
