Did you know your tensioner pulley has a marking on it to show if the belt is correctly integrated with it.
The dotted line on the right should line up with the arrowed line on the left.......the other line are the high and lowered limits.....

Great tip Rich! I have to check this out. May be good to post correct length here but I don’t have it handy.

Although I already knew about this, I bet there are more people that don’t then do!
Believe the correct length belt is 63.5” part # (60635)
 
could the wrong alternator pulley cause this too ?
Absolutely. Many change their alternator without knowing the pulley size may be different. Making matters worse is when you go to a parts store and tell the guy behind the computer you need a new belt, they unknowingly give you a 64" belt because the computer said so :rolleyes:. A 63" belt works well for my setup with an aftermarket alternator.
 
I know for a fact I'm not using the correct belt length.


Mine is 1/2" shorter than correct so it actually works. :)
