Not to argue with the experts here, as I am running one of the experts trannies right now and really like it but I did run an Art Carr, TX, extreme duty and it performed very well. I did burn up the clutch packs after a very hard day at the strip but made the two hour drive home no problem. The REASON I burned up the clutch packs, which I did not realize until a couple of months later, was due to the fins in the tranny cooler being plugged solid with debris (like grass and stuff). Never noticed it as it was between the tranny cooler and the radiator. One of the last runs I made, out of about 20 that day, it whiffed fluid out of the breather hose pretty good and left a nice trail of white smoke behind me. Because I was lazy and did not have my tranny temp gauge hooked up I made back to back to back runs and did not realize I was superheating the tranny fluid. This was evident when I changed fluid and ended up with a lot of slippage. Since the tranny was still under warrenty I sent it back to Art Carr, TX and they rebuilt the whole thing, no cost. So they do stand behind thier product no question. Now, given I will be putting about 1000 to 1100 through my tranny this spring would I rather have the $3000 Bruce tranny or the 1700 or so bucks Art Carr? I'll take the Bruce Tranny no question. But for 650 or so HP I think the Art Carr did just fine.
