ok im trying to get my car back on the road and the tranny sucks. the trans is brand new from art carr and it shift way to soon. it will be in 3rd gear before 25mph. ive tried every adjustment on the linkage with no change. any help would be great. i know the only thing that was different from my other trans was the plug on the side is only a 3 prong on like the 4 prong but art carr told me that the new tranny has a internal ground or something like that and doesnt need the 4th prong. any help would be great. i wish someone would by this tranny from me and my other full built tranny so i can buy a real trans from PTS.

ttt

ttt. im trying to figure this out. Buick event is in Nov. in Phoenix need help.

Sounds like either the TV valve in the valve body is sticking or the TV cable isn't connected to the TV linkage in the transmission. When you pull on the TV cable near the throttle body, do you feel spring pressure tugging back? If so, it's hooked up. If not, remove the 10mm retaining bolt and reconnect the cable to the linkage.

If it is hooked up, when you pull it all the way out, do you hear any change in sounds coming from the front of the transmission? Most 2004Rs will make an audible sound when going to full pressure. If you don't detect any sound, you should seek out a 0-300 psi transmission pressure gauge and see if you're getting a response from the TV cable.

ok

ok so i went out and looked at this stupid tranny. i droped the pan and the cable is connect the the tranny. when its adjusted all the way in i can go to the bottom of the tranny and still move the little metal piece that cable is attached to about 1/2 inch upwards. then if i adjust the cable all the way out at the throttle body i can move the metal piece up alot since it loose up at the throttle body. the fluid looks brand new but there is alot of black in the pan but the tranny has less then 30 miles on it.  i wish i could just sell this tranny and my other tranny and get a real tranny. this tranny was just a spare to use till my other tranny is done but thats along story. please help

also

also i pulled the gov. and its orange and has 2 springs in it which both look to be about the same. dont know what to look for.

If the pan is black then you lost a set(s) of clutches. I wouldnt leave it in there.

Factory turbo Buick governors only used one spring, on the light, secondary weight. Your governor is probably a contributor to the shift point problems. However, as stated above, you may have already smoked something in there as evidenced by the black residue.

gay

well i dont know what to do then. the car shifts fine when i shift it manually. humm. gay.

o

also when i first drove it and realized it was shifting early i have been manually shifting it since. i dont see how this could have hurt it with that low of mileage. could i just replace the fuild and filter set the tv cable and try again? i need some help. anything would be great.

ok

ok i have a correstion to all my post. i was wrong about the black in the pan. there is very little black in the pan. it must have been the light that looked like there was alot but there isnt. i pulled the pan out of underneath the car and there is very little black in there. so please help

pressure

You need to check ur line pressure. Change the fluid and reset the tv cable and try tightening it a click or 2.

yup
