So I just tried installing my new Art Carr transmission pan which I got from Kirbans. Evidently they are made by PML? Probably not a big deal except for the picture below. Has anyone else had the same fitment issue with the shifter cable bracket? What was your workaround? Didn't see where Kirbans or PML offered a sub bracket.

....slightly irritated.

That's what I figured. But that's kind of cheesy for a $200 part. A simple bracket extension sent with the pan would make me much happier.

what i did on the last one was just slot the sides of the bracket holes with a whiz wheel , a hack saw would do as well,

Never had a problem, but as you can see (lower LH corner) my B&M bracket is slotted...

Same pan, same problem. I was slightly irked too. I just took the grinder to the bracket til it fit right.

I just installed mine last week and was freaked out to at the time. I got a cutting wheel and cut open half the stock holes so it would work.

I would like to know if the hughs pan sold by some vendors and summit has the same problem

I fail to see how this could be a "pan issue" as the bolts are in the same location as stock ? ? ?

Well, it's pretty simple to me. The stock bracket fits on the stock pan. The stock bracket doesn't fit on the aftermarket pan. That's a pan issue, not a bracket issue. The sidewalls of the aftermarket pans are significantly thicker than the stock pan and therefore do not leave enough clearance for the stock bracket to bolt up without modification to the bracket. Sure seems like this is prevalent among aftermarket pans so its hardly worth arguing about.

Well, OK. Obviously, the bolts are still in the stock location, so why are you needing to use a grinder to "slot" the bracket? Just because the pan rail is thicker makes no sense...

BTW, I have two set-ups one with a stock pan and one with the Art-Carr, but since both have aftermarket shifters...

Just checked with J B RACING. he installed a hughes pan ,no problems with bracket best alu pan he has seen

With the Art Carr pan you need to slot the bracket the other direction (in and out). Take a look at the original post picture and compare to your slotted bracket. Your bracket is slotted lengthwise, and mine needed to be slotted the other direction. You are right it has nothing to do with bolt location. It's due to the fact that the pan sidewall is thicker and the stock bracket will not fit without cutting out the backside of the bracket in the bolt location area. I did this and it worked fine.

Hmmm, interesting. The (aftermarket) bracket that's on my stock steel pan came with 2 spacers about 1/4" tall and 2 longer bolts for that location. Doesn't look like that would help with a stock bracket though...

Typical problem on most mods I have done with "bolt on" parts. I ground the bracket.

No issues when using the Hughes Deep Aluminum Pan.....bolts right up! :)

you have to grind the oe bracket
X2
This is the only picture I have, but If you zoom the picture you will see I too grind the OE bracket until the bracket holes line up with the transmission holes.

You are correct. If the car had a column shifter this wouldnt be an issue. Milling the pan or grinding the bracket works every time.
