I have an all stock 200r4 that has been rebuilt within the last year. My buddy is trowing me this great deal on a 9" artcarr with a 3200 stall but its a non lockup. Im just wondering how the non lockup part of this is going to hurt me for one, and I also wanted to know if i can have this converter installed with out doing anything else with the trans. any info would help Thanks

Your trans should be OK with the non lockup. Shift feel will be less firm. The car will spool like mad, and launch like crazy.
All you will need is a non lock up valve, and a good external cooler, that`s it.
You will also experience 250 or so more rpm on the expressway.
I have used both, and like a non lock for performance, and l-u for trips. For my money, I always liked non lock ups better. IMO
Brian

thanks for the info brian, it sounds like its not a big deal but i am going to take it to a shop how much should i be willing to spend to have it installed. How bad is this going to hurt my gas mileage?

Thanks again, GN Joe

if you drive around town, there is probably no difference in MPG. Long trips you will see a drop off. The amount of drop is depends how your drive. it is probaby overkill if you are running a stock turbo. But give it a try and see how it works. Post back with results.

Joe you dont need a convertor with a stock turbo, what are you trying to do, burn up those tires I sold you?! I had a 2800 stall with a ta60 and it spooled very fast to the point I would blow my nittos off at 50mph. A 3200 with a stock turbo is going to be a little too much and you are going to HATE the non l/u (I hate it on my car right now).

Take care of your fuel system (injectors, walbro pump w/hot wire kit), get a chip made and turn up the boost!

Thanks Brad but I already burnt up those bfg's i see why you where selling them, they dont hook so good. Why would I hate it? are you saying that i wont be able to hook or what? What other disadvantages are there that you hate so much? By the way thanks for busting me out about the stall infront of potential races last night, I dont have much but what I do have im trying to keep quiet, so watch what you say infront of non buick guys.

It may be a good deal but........

you sure don't need a converter until you're running a larger turbo, much larger. Even when I was running a TA49 w/ my AC 3200, I was having trouble hooking and I know the stocker is going to be worse. The stock D5 convertor flat out works w/ a stock turbo or a TE44/TA49. I'd look at spending my money else where.

Your buddy is giving you SOUND advice on the fuel system, take care of that first.
