Ok, I FINALLY got aroung to pulling out my interior. My car has an ASC Sunroof installed since it was 7 miles old. (must have been the dealer) The fabric that is on the sliding cover is comletely gone. I'm planning on dropping off my visors, modified headliner board and sliding cover the get recovered all at the same time. I need to figure out how the sliding cover comes off. Has anyone ever taken one of these apart before? It slides into the unit when it is retracted, so I can't see how to get it out. I'm assuming I can get it out without removing the entire sunroof assembly, that would really $uck. Any Ideas?

You have to remove the entire unit. It does kind of suck but as long as you have someone there to help you its not htat bad. Just unhook the drain lines from it front and rear and then take off the nuts that are bolted into the roof.

What seals the unit to the roof of the car, I would hate to cause a problem with sealing once I drop it. It doesen't leak now, and since sealing other leaks is one of the key reasons I have the interior out, I would not be happy if the roof leaks when I am done.

There is generally a rubber gasket around the metal frame that seals the unit to the roof. As long as the drain lines are clear and not plugged and the gasket around the glass is good, they're generally pretty good at not leaking.

Well, I just got the sunroof assembly out out of the car. Not too bad, but it sure is an akward b*tch if you're working by yourself. It looks like I have to un-screw the tracks that the glass rides in so I can remove the sliding cover out the top of the unit. Does this sound right? The gasketing that seals the unit to the car appears to be no more that the closed cell foam stuff you get at Home Depot to seal doors and stuff. Is there any info on how to adjust everything once they're back in the car? Thanks.

info

Kirban has a sunroof/t-roof book.

I will check mine to see if there is any info on adjusting and if there is I will mail it to you if you would like.

Take care,

Ravi

FYI: The Kirban book only deals with the factory installed (CF5) astroroof. I've not seen anything on the ASC one.

Ooops

Sorry, I should have read the whole post. As mentioned the Kirban book deals with the factory CF5 Astroroof and in fact does have a section for adjusting.

Ravi

I wish I had the Astroroof, parts and information on that seem much easier to get. Thanks for the the info.
