What a shame,They suppied the buick world for many yrs only moving on to other brands maybe too late. They will be missed.

So sad to see that. They always made quality parts and had good customer service. Did you see all the leftover parts they had? Wonder who will buy the leftover stuff car wise.

Jason

Hopefully some Buick guys will go there and get a lot of the TR stuff and then sell it on here

I and i bet many were hopping they'd come back....whata shame :(

i wish i lived in SC, i'd surely go there.

Mike, Get down there and buy some of the special stuff like the sway bars. Wonder if they have any exhaust systems?

We already have the sway bars in quanity. Ours are powdercoated instade of painted though and we supply grade 8 bolts but it is the same bar. I doubt there is much good left. I was told the parts jigs are trashed. I am considering making the trip but we will see what happens
Mike

Guys,

More likely than not, I'm planning to attend this. If there's anything you'd like me to look for, let me know what, and also let me know what the max you'd pay for it so I'll know what to bid. If I win something you wanted, pay the shipping and it's yours.

Yeah, it is sad. Hate to see another vendor go. But as we all know it is dog eat dog in the world of business. :(

Did ATR trash the jigs on purpose or..???

Jason

No, from what I was told by someone who checked them out for me that was they were just abused and worn out. I was thinking about going down to buy some stuff but I fugures I would just post it and let you guys have first crack at getting some good deals on whatever is left
Mike

****.. i just was linked to this after asking a friend where the hell atr's website went..

thats really crappy to hear :(

dunno if anyone even makes hotair headers and downpipes anymore.. what a shame

Mike do you plan on going to this? I'm sure something has to be left that is usable. Almost makes me wonder if they went of business on purpose because they knew there equipment, jigs, were getting old.

Jason

Well, just got back from the auction.

There were some parts to be had, and a lot of junk. Problem is, the auction was poorly setup in my opinion. The inventory was broken up into VERY large lots, so to get one or two things you may have wanted you had to buy/bid on a entire 10-15ft shelf of stuff. Made it very difficult for any normal type person to win anything because these big money guys would come in there and just crack the bidding open at $500+ which to me was too much to pay for a whole shelf of stuff that I'd have to throw away or try to sell just to get the few things I wanted. As for headers/DP's/exhaust, it was all scattered around in back of the building and VERY hard to tell if you were looking at a DP for a Buick, SVO, Sy/Ty, RX7, etc, etc. Nothing labeled. The rolling chassis ATR use to bring to the Nats sold for about $750-800, and the display engine shell(which had no crank, rods, pistons, cam, bare heads, etc) sold for something crazy like $700-800. As far as I could tell there wasn't many Buick guys there so most of them didn't know ½ of what they were buying and were paying WAY too much for it. I bid on about 5 things, but was quickly outbid by the "high rollers" This one older guy in particular was walking around with his little pet dog ( ) buying up most of the Buick stuff and paying BIG money for it. He easily spent over $9,000 between the auction starting at 9am to the time I left at 11am.

So to those of you who PM'd me with things to look out for, no luck. Either I didn't see any, or they were thrown it with so much other junk there was no chance of getting them for a decent price.

Sounds like all the stuff will be wasted yet again. Whats a guy with a rat dog going to do with a rolling chassis? :D

Yeah, it was pretty discouraging. One shelf that I bid on had about 30-40 brand new in the box plug wire sets for Turbo Trans Ams. The Black Beauty ones that ATR sold. Some scruffy looking guy bought the whole shelf for about $650. I'm sure he doesn't have a clue what he bought. Those plug wires will probably end up on his riding lawn mower and S10 truck, or being sold at a flea market somewhere...

They made sure to tell everyone that was not allowed and that they had 3 unidentified people in the crowd to watch out for such thing.
