I have a question. I have not been abusing my WRX yet :D, But I have a question, can you hear the turbo spool?

I only have 150 miles on it, I assume it isnt broken in yet, did you all experience something like that? Where it takes a few hundred to get the turbo to loosen up? Also, on a load with the radio and blower off, I begin to hear a spool, but it is erratic. I just hope its normal.

I havea boost gauge coming, so at least I will be able to watch the boost and see whats going on.

Sure seems to get up to 100 right away on a 5th gear roll on. :D Still under that 4000 rpm mark.....

I think its going to be a fun car.

A good friend of mine bought one a while back and when I drove it (after the break in :D ) I was beating on it and I couldn't hear a thing....after we redid the exhaust and got rid of a few cats (there are like 3) THEN it started sounding nice, hardcore whistle...those boxer 4's don't sound like your normal rice rocket either, they have a nice deep tone.

My car is 100% stock < for now > and I can hear the turbo spool from 3000 - 4500 rpm. Apparantly an intake kit makes the turbo whine a lot louder. You will find the car will perform like a champ if you keep the rpm's above 3000.

Enjoy

I'll send a Rex tunner buddy to this post.

I didn't really hear a "spool up" on my Saab till I installed a cone filter and replaced the ribbed rubber tube with aluminum.

To hear the turbo and bov you'll need to remove your intake silencer fron the fender well.
