Hi i have just bought th700 4 speed auto gearbox with a stage 1 shift kit and craig davies transmisson cooler ( there australian brands and the best for our commodores because my current gearbox is dead.

i love to manually shift the auto through the gears and when going through streets etc and i dont want to kill this transmisson like the one in my car now what are my option's it already has the cooler and shift kit and has around 130,000 km's in good condition on the gearbox and i want to manually shift almost all the time what can i do ? .

im also soon to add a 2500 Rpm hi stall to the gearbox as its being put in and im adding a recon tailshaft.

ill also get a full service done on the gearbox and use the best trans fluid. Could i buy another craig davies trans cooler and fit the 2 after market coolers ?

My car is a holden vn commodore series 1 3.8 litre v6 N/A engine ( Uses buick engine and th700 gearbox but its E.F.I.) soon to be supercharged thats why the bigger torque convertor.

You could install a full-manual valve body on it. TCI offers two versions of the reverse shift pattern manual 700-R4 valve body. The 376010 has no engine braking features and is primarily intended for drag racing. The 376015 has full engine braking in 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Both valve bodies support either a lock-up or non lock-up converter and will work on any model year 700-R4.

We have three distributors down under. :)

Thanks for that info

my gearbox is planned like this

2500 Rpm Hi Stall Convertor with stage 1 shift kit and craig davies trans cooler the largest one made and the stock convertor is also still on there.

i might look into a manual valve body the problem is that after manually shifting my old gearbox it lost 3rd gear and i dont want it to happen again.

ill look over both them sites.

It is to my knowledge that manually upshifting an automatic is ok, but when you manually downshift an automatic while driving, that it can cause the flywheel/flexpate to become warped over time. Someone please correct me if i am wrong.
