Usually on a Speed/Stop challenge you start on a dragstrip using the tree and end right at the finish line and you have a 40' box that you have to stop in without hitting a single cone. Here are a few from the first Speed/Stop Challenge sponsored by BAER brakes.. This was with the STOCK disc/drum brakes too!

Goodguys Pleasanton Autocross. I don't have any pics actually racing thoughHad a blast though. This last time out, I was quicker around the course than a Cobra Kit car (not the best driver lol)

Thanks Scot! It is a blast autocrossing the GN. There is nothing better than the looks you get after the first run and people realize it is turbo!

so what's the deal with these events? it was my from understanding (limited) that your car gets grouped along similiar set-ups (FI cars against FI cars, NA/NA, stock suspension, aftermarket, etc.)... a FI car would probably get whooped up on by NA cars of the same power, driver pending of course.

Not all Auto-X events are grouped in the same manner, like for instance at most pro-touring auto-X's all the cars are simply just put in groups of 7 or so depending on how many are entered. Here is a clip taken from our local SCCA handbook on how they group the cars in category.
"Almost all un-modified cars start out in the stock category. There are a few exceptions, but most people can't afford them. From Stock classes, each car moves to a designated Street Prepared or Prepared class when it has modifications made to it, and from there, with more modifications, on to a Modified class.
Sometimes cars in different stock classes will end up in the same street prepared class once they have go-fast goodies added. The reason is that modifications may equalize the cars. In general, the stock classes can be listed by stereotype:
SS Really fast sports cars (Corvette, '93+ RX-7 Turbo)
AS Powerful sports cars (Various Porsche, MR-2 Turbo)
BS Lightweight sports cars (Miata, Porsche 914)
CS Older or heavier sports cars (MR-2, RX-7)
DS Small coupes, mostly FWD (Neon, Sentra SE-R)
ES Small coupes & sedans, mostly FWD (Celica, Golf/Jetta)
FS Muscle cars (Mustang, Camaro/Firebird)
GS Large coupes & sedans, mostly FWD (Probe, Grand Am)
HS Everything else (you name it!)
Cars listed are typical examples, not necessarily the best for the class
and certainly not all the cars in the class. The stereotypes break down in the other categories (street prepared, prepared and modified), because of the allowed modifications to the car. Not all cars go to the same letter in the next category. The classes for the remaining categories are listed in the PAX index charts in the next section."
