B&M or Hurst shifter Cable Length?

Just wondered if anyone has had success using a 3' B&M/Hurst shifter cable on the 2004r with one of the racheting shifters without any binding?

I have run a 4' version in the past, and have run it out of the trans linkage, looped up over the tail-shaft towards the passenger side, then up and into the factory tunnel grommet and to the shifter.

Can't comment on the 3', but I did just recently install a B&M Pro-Stick with the 5' race cable they provided. It's a heavy duty cable and I've been very pleased with it. I've got the cable coming off the selector, around the tail shaft (I used 2 cable mounts off the tranny pan bolts), then up over the tranny coming in through the hole in the driveshaft tunnel.
