The day was hot!

The car was run with an open dump, 275/60/15 radials, and ~1/2 tank of fuel. The transmission has a very tight 2000 stall converter and is non-L/U. The car has 3.73 gears & brand new valve springs.

Best on 94 octane street gas: 2psi launch; 18psi boost; 30psi tires; 5300+rpm shifts & shifted into OD. Jay Carter 94 Street Chip.
R/T ... 1.719 (Hey, I am racing a Turbo Buick here)
60' ... 2.299 (Crappy tires, low launch boost, and little to no stall)
330 ... 6.056
1/8 ... 9.140
MPH ... 79.51
1000 ... 11.809
1/4 ... 14.052
MPH ... 100.07

Best on 114/110 race gas: 2psi launch; 20-21psi boost; 26.5psi tires; 5300+rpm shifts. And I placed a Jay Carter 110 Race Chip in the ECM.
R/T ... 1.904 (Hey, I am still racing a Turbo Buick here)
60' ... 2.287
330 ... 5.988
1/8 ... 8.983
MPH ... 82.54 (I accidently slipped the car back into second, days best was 83.78mph)
1000 ... 11.549
1/4 ... 13.712
MPH ... 103.81

Basically I am still having a tough time driving this car... shifting specifically, I made it onto N on one pass. It refuses to 60' because of the lack of weight transfer from the stiff front suspension. The MPH is indicative of low 13s/high 12s in most other Buicks. Since my first time out with the car it has picked up 4 tenths on street gas, and 7 total tenths on that race gas mix. MPH has jumped up about 3 on street gas, and 7 on race gas over previous bests.

I found that in absence of a spray wand setup, a water bottle with a couple of holes punched in the top is a good means of wetting down the intercooler... it is really easy if you are still missing the stock I/C fan, like me.

It was nice to see some old friends... and a lot of them were asking where my Monte Carlo was, I guess that it has made a name for itself :)

Any guesses on what kind of power this thing may be making?

That is horrible:) Even with just regular radials and all stock pieces I went 12.8@106.5 MPH. What is up with the 2.2 60 fts.? Come out with what the tires will hold.

I would think low 12's or high 11's.

Look at the section on Drag Racing Techniques on this board

The 2.2s are because of the tight convertor. At 2000rpm the tires start spinning @ the line... 2psi is all she'll hold for me. I am not too far off of your mph... I am still new at this Buick thing... The car has only been on the road for a little over a month and a half.

There is nothing like doing a burnout at 15-20psi. :D

What are your rear tires? How about a line lock? The turbo is stock? I believe the transmission should be in "D" and not "OD" at the finish line, if possible.

I had a old Caspers 7 position on #5 setting with 110 octane and 18.5 PSI to go 106.5 MPH with a 1.8 60 ft. on BFG 265/50/15's. My leave was 5 PSI. Don't manual shift, you can't do better than it will do on its own. Neutral huh:D

-Some cheapy 275/60s --- 140 treadwear rating.
-I have a rear proportioning valve bypass and s-10 wheel cylinders. I also have 12" front brakes.
-The turbo is stock, but ported.
-The car has 3.73s and it used to be a 10 second DFI car... so that is why I am manually shifting it. Normally I'd have to lift off the throttle to get it to change gears because it is governed to shift well above 5000rpm (ported heads and a bigger cam, etc.). It is not a stock BRF trans.

Ever run 13.7 with a 6-pt roll bar?! I am a ricer :D

That convertor is killing you - I leave off idle with my 9-11" and still cut 2.0's on 235/60's, and its a peg leg.

On Drag Radials ~0~ vacuum gets me low 1.9's. Any boost and the car cuts 2.7's.......I have some work to do.

And I thought I was doing bad.....

Get that gonvernor set to shift when it supposed to.

Keep tuning - you'll get there, your mph is what I run with 16-17psi with a street chip.

I am seriously looking to gain more on both street and race fuel... but I am in a conservative state of tune as this was only my second time out with the car.

Any thoughts on the "typical" power level this car is at?

You don't have the 2nd pump coming on do you?

I'd say your at the 325-350ish hp with the mph your at, maybe a little less.

1) I am not totally sure if that pump is coming into play  I think it is hooked up (I used it to drain the gas tank at the track [jumped the Hobbs switch]) to come on at 14psi. Are you thinking rich condition?

2) At the crank, right?

To get an accurate idea of what your car will do, get some slicks. Anything less and you're just spinning your wheels. < pun meant >
