backfire ?

I was driving my car today, and the boost was set at 16psi. I didnt even get on the throttle all the way and all I heard was a loud backfire. The scanmaster did not read any knock. I was wondering what could cause this and is it bad. The car is mostly stock, with the exception of a powerplate, and fuelpump.
