Thanks for the link WackoSS. That is some amazing luck. The guy did not die.

I was looking at the film before I read the article and it seemed a bit confusing as to who ran the light because the pedestrian was crossing against the light if the PT Cruiser ran it, and with the light if the SUV ran it. The ped was going against the light. Still, the driver of the PT Cruiser will still be charged. Light was red for 28 seconds.

I watched the video again and paused it at the last second before impact with the ped. You can see the guy turn and put his hand out... he knew it was coming probably the instant before it hit.

I can't really tell if that is a traffic light that we're seeing. Picture is a little bit poor. Although if you look at the cars coming from the other direction they're approaching the intersection slowly and stopping. If that light had just turned red, I think they would probably approach faster and have to stop harder. Despite the fact that the article said the light was red for 28 seconds, I think it was red. But I do see what you're looking at and it appears to be a traffic light that's green.

I think that since the Eccort wagon is past the line it seems he is waiting to turn,and the other cars are in motion coming from the other direction one could think that the light is green..
I do that all the time ,sitting at a red and see the car nect to me move ,so I think its green and go...

Coming home tonight I'm sitting in the left turn lane at a red light in a little town. I get the arrow and start to enter the intersection. I look left and hit the brakes. A woman in a Trailblazer coming from my left just sails across the intersection in front of me like she never saw the light and it was red for at least 10 seconds. Another woman in a car across the intersection has her hand over her mouth like she screamed. The bad part is the Trailblazer just kept going; I bet she still doesn't know what she did.
