Ok, here's the deal, my oil smells VERY gassy, and i don't know why

My blue tops don't have that many miles on em, or at least what Rob Nolan told me, RIGHT ROB??? ;):D:cool:


I'm not using any oil but god damn it smells gassy, it kinda worries me....from what people tell me a smoke a little when i'm on it...what do you guys think?

Tony, The injectors had about 6000 miles on them give or take.

I think a compression check is in your near future for peace of mind. I had a MAF once that made my car do this when going bad. I was at the beach in Ocean City with a new motor and it smoked like a freight train and I just knew everyone was calling my car a POS! I found it soon after and just in time before it washed out my rings or tore up my bearings. Good luck!
 
that's what i figured rob, that's fine :) i doubt its the injectors,i'll check them later.

I'm not smoking when i drive normal, i was told it was smoking a bit when i really get on it....

oh well if it IS the rings guess i'll throw a cam in there :D

Tony, There was somebody else on here i think that had the same problem about a week ago. You might want to go back and see the replys.
 
yeah i'll check that, his situation was a bit different i think, more hopped up motor and running more boost than i am, i'll check it again

BTW i got your email, i was only breakin stones about the injectors..i know that's not the problem, that's why i put the smileys after my statement about the blue tops :)
 
Do you have any scan tool #'s. Car maybe running rich. How much fuel pressure you running?

45#'s line off just like thrasher wants, the O2's ARE rich, i know that but doesn't really matter how much i play iwth the FP, i've had it down to 42#'s and didn't change the O2's much, at the top of third i'm around 805 which is fine, around town i'm kinda rich...
 
What are your blm's at idle? Are the over 128? From my experience the computer will start throwing in a bunch of additional fuel if they are higher than 128. 2 things I found that screwed with my blm's
was the pcv check valve would make them read high. I removed it and the blm's dropped back into a normal range. I also had a 3" Impala mass air meter and a Translator. Some cars and some chip combo's with this mass air meter like the idle setting on 4 (rich idle) instead of 3 which is the normal setting for the 3" mass air. My car was like this and like yours, the oil smelled of gas since the computer was adding in a bunch of fuel. Check it out and report back.
 
Lee, good idea, but I hhave a trasher chip, locks the BLMs at 128 :(

should i try to get another chip and see what it is?
