Ok guys this is the deal im going to buy a car tomorrow (probably) but its a 1987 buick regal t-type and the option code on the Vin is an M not a J (which is regal t-type limited) but what i want to know is it worth the money im going to pay for it? how much money would you pay for a 1987 buick regal t-type vin code M NOT the GN style what id really like but i heard its all the same except for the interior. Please i desp. need your guys help here.

What kind of shape is it in? Rust? Miles? Mods? How much work needs to be done before its where you want it to be? Multiply this answer by 10 to get the true answer. But most important how bad do you want it?

A price would help. Miles? Condition? Check suspension bushings, especially a-arm bushings...u can see them with the hood up on the passenger side..look to see if the bushings arent metal on metal or close to it...drain holes in the bottom of the doors are open, no rust along the bottom of the panels, bondo, clean carfax, smog equipment, no check engine light, torque converter lockup is working, pull every spark plug and look for oil burning...DEMAND this and do not exclude this "little" thing!, powermaster (master cylinder assist..if it has it) motor turns on and spins for no longer than 7-8 seconds when you tap the brake pedal for the first time after ignition on, make him get it smogged and passed, etc. Do NOT rush this thing. The car will be there tomorrow.

Ok smog he said he came exempt (didnt come from the factory with a smog pump , engine in very good condition , he rebuild the engine said theres only like 40k miles on the neew engine needs a new paint job not horribly but it does , not alot of rust at all trust me i checked the frame the floor panels
the interior in very good shape suprising for how old it is how good the interior looks the bushings and everything looks alright when/ if i buy that car i plan on redoing the suspension anyway im not to worried about that but the a-arms and the tir rod bushings ill be lookin at thanks for that but he said he wants 4 grand for it good or bad deal?

yea i thought so to he just gotta sell me the car now it had an over heating problem (i think its something as easy as a thermostat) no white smoke coming from tailpipe so i think its a slight slight chance there could be a head gasket problem, and theres an oil leak comin from somewhere its on the right side its very wierd , some days there will be an oil leak andanother day not a drop etc etc etc. so its gonna be a pain in the ass finding it and he wont sell it to me unless he finds it. wish i could just kinda take care of it by myself.

Red oil or black oil? I had a leak forever that I couldnt track down until one day the leak busted wide open and left me stranded. It was one the tranny cooler lines. They rubbed together for 19 years and finally wore through. It was a tiny pin-hole leak that was spraying a ton of tranny fluid. before that though, it was just a small elak that would come and go. Is there alot of sludge buildup under the engine on the frame?

The 87 in my signature is leaking oil from the right side. It is coming from the fitting that is behind the oil filter. I haven't looked at it close enough to see if it's the oil pressure sending unit or feed for the turbo yet. Might check that out.
