what are the consequenses of this cable not being hooked back on the front of engine, i know one of them is frying your alternator, are there any other consequenses of this cable left disconnected?

thanks..

reason for asking a friend left his unhooked and he fried his alternator, Volts readings were in the 15.5/16.2 before replacing alternator and hooking cable back up..

My car started and ran fine with no voltage apparent issues for about 2 months until I found it was not attached to the turbo bracket mount area.

It was just hanging there free.

The fender grounds were good and in place of course.

Sounds like the regulator went in the alternator not sure if it's due to the main ground cable or not?

This was on the GN I bought used. Probably started and run about 50 times until I found it.
