Battery tenders

Any body that lives in the northern climates, have any recommendations for a battery tender?
Are they a good idea or just unhook the battery for the winter?

Use mine on my T-Type and boat every winter. I highly recommend the Deltron.

I can get a CTEK 3300 for $50. I am in Ontario.

There a great idea.. Not sure what brand I got, But we leave it on our Boat in the winter and on our 79 Ford!!! Works great!! Def work the 50-60 bucks!!

I have 2 of the Battery Tendors and they are top notch, ( Same as Delran I beleive).

I use a Deltran and I've had the same battery Since 2003.

FWIW. I killed my original deltran try to revive a balky Optima Redtop. They replaced it for the price of shipping.

Have used many and ended up tossing them in the garbage unitl I found this:

Here's what I use....."Optimate 6" desulphating battery charger & tester.
I leave mine hooked up all winter long!

Works great....highly recommend one.

I have the BatteryTender. It is awesome. Even brought back an Interstate MegaTron from the dead. If the battery is no good it will tell you. The Optimate looks pretty damn good too.

i got a battery tender for the cars an bike works great if u hook it up i always seem to forget

I have the battery butler that Kirban sells. I hook it up as soon as I put the car away for the winter and unhook it in the spring. I do start the car once in a while just to ensure I have oil on the cylinder walls. It only costs 18 bucks too. I just don't need the features of the higher dollar ones. It keeps the battery charged up without any problems. I have had mine for a couple years and it hasn't failed me yet. I am going to be getting another one for my camper battery soon.

I use a trickle charger that I bought at CT for $20. Works great, I stay away from any charger that has more than 2A. Never had a problem with my trickle charger.

That's a nice unit! But that is more than a brand new AC delco battery.

Battery Tenders are great. I've been very satisfied and have kept a battery from 2001 going.

I use them on all my vehicles that sit garaged in the winter.....as stated above we sell a battery butler that does the trick. Our cars need them especially as they can't sit for lengths of time and need a fully charged battery to start.

Its the best insurance to keep your battery fully charged when not in use.

Does anybody make one that is really small and hardwires under the hood with a short plug on it. Then you just have an extension cord running out to the car directly (like a block heater). Mine stays outside behind a gate and I would like to have an option that is weather proof.
