Last winter I bought a high mile GN not running that was sitting under a snow bank at -30 degrees, it was cheap so I thought what the heck. Did not even know if it ran, but thought it would be good to grab it for future project for my 10 year old son and I.
Car has a an ok paint job and some small rust holes, ripped seat covers, etc. But it is all their.
Well, over the winter my son and I replaced all the normal stuff, tuned it up, coil pack on and on, then fired her up...He really got a kick out of seeing it run from his efforts.
Hey it runs great! looks to be stock with an exhaust, chip, air cleaner.
Took the thing out on its maiden voyage last week, the thing rips! Shut down a Subaru WRX sti within the 1st 10 minutes of having it out..I had to laugh so hard I was almost crying... not bad for an old beater.
Now the point is, I am used to driving my very clean low mile built GN with a 70 GTQ and all the goodies, but I am finding out that this stock high mile car is a ton of fun.
I dont have to worry about getting a chip in the paint, I dont worry about pot holes, I dont worry about the kids getting their muddy boots on the seats.. + it still gets the thumbs up all day long. I am driving it to work every day now and enjoying the low stess of it not being a show car.
I slapped my G meter on it and ran a 13.7 @ 101 mph on a 2.2 60' on a no boost street launch. Hey not bad for an old grinder, im sure with some tuning boost + traction I have a 12 second car at the track.
It makes me really weigh out the $ vs fun factor of some of my nicer cars that just sit in the garage...
