All the Hughes 2004R Pans come with the 700R4 filter now, Summit just hasn't updated their photo.
They are very high quality, thick cast Pans, you'll like it.
That's also the best location for the Sensor, it doesn't interfere with anything internally.

WOW! I ordered the pan from Jegs on Thursday at 3pm and it arrived this morning. That was fast!

sure thing. I have one friend machining an aluminum threaded piece for me and another will tig weld it on.

D

So i open the box and what do I see?The wrong filter! I called before ordering too to make sure the filter in the pic was the one i was getting. Tech assured me it was. I called to straighten it out and Jegs said to buy the filter i want locally and they would reimburse me. Fair enough i figure.
And it does have a drain plug.

The tranny pan looks awesome ( wait, is The Miz around):p
Don't know which is better, having some young America's doing the shipping or foreigner's since both can't read or write English and needs a calculator at the cashier station!

Must've been an old stock Pan Jeg's had left over.
You may also need to Mill/Grind the Stands in the bottom of the Pan for the 700R4 Filter clearance.
Filter Info, 2/3 way down Pg. >> http://www.drwtransmission.com/thm_200-4r.htm
Many Months back a friend talked to Hughes, they assured Him they all include the 700R4 filter now.

Yes you're right, a while back when I drop the pan down I did saw the stands were grind down.

You know. I saw the stands and thought the same thing not even having seen the 700r4 filter.

I'm sending it back. Going to try summit. I'm not grinding anything. And i'm not paying for shipping or return shipping either.

Why can't you keep the pan until you know if someone else has another one.

Another thing, since this is for a 2004r tranny, all will supply a GM filtration. You will have to buy the 700r4 filter separately, and if you can't find another one you might have to grind down the stands. I guess this is one of the many joys of improving the car since GM couldn't do it.

Check with Kirban he has them, a little more in price, but it's the Art Carr deep pan, (no drain plug) I don't know what you pay for the Hughes, but it might be cheaper than this one: http://www.kirbanperformance.com/product/277/Art Carr 200 4R TRANSMISSION PAN KIT #6831.html

I called Hughes directly and spoke with a gentleman by the name of Scott. He was quite helpful and directed my questions to the "guru" and they assured me I would get the correct pan and filter. They are even going to drill and tap the pan for the temp sending unit. I emailed him a pic of my prefered drill and tap location. Should be shipped out today he says.

What one must do to get the right part, but at least Scott from Hughes is going to drill and tap the pan for the temp sending unit, which is pretty nice for him to do that.

I received the new pan from hughes this week with the 700r4 filter, the shorter stands and the temp hole drilled and tapped. This thing is a piece of art work! Installed the transmission last night. It took 5 hours. Runs good. I lightly bolted the pan on to rest on the trans jack. once bolted i removed the pan to connect the TV cable hence some oil that escaped the stall converter. Snugged it all up.

That looks good, now I know if I need to replace my tranny pan I will know where to go, Thanks
Keep in mind and for your info, beside the tranny stock metal tap to prevent the filter (as shown on 1st photo) from touching the electric connection, I also used shrink tubing over the electric wires as an insulator.

Thanks for the info.

Something is bothering me on this install. The TV cable linkage in the trans. The trans i took out had an L shape pin and a small spring as in this picture. The trans I put in did not have the L or small spring. We took it for a short drive and everything appears to be working well but i decided to keep the drive short and parked the car. I'm thinking i need to drop the pan again and install the L and spring.

Wow, you went from a simple installing a temp. sensor unit to replacing the whole tranny unit, what happen?
Was there a problem with the 1st tranny?
Is this an updated tranny with the new installation of the deep pan and temp sensor unit?
As far as the L shape pin and small spring, that you're going to have to ask one of the tranny mentor that question, since I'm not knowledgeable with internal parts of the tranny, but I do know how to remove and replace one.

Forgive me if I'm wrong , but I think that pin and spring are part of the fail safe mechanism . . Some builders leave it out . ATSG recommends leaving it out , BTW . The pro builders can explain it better than I can .

The Hughes pan is a fine looking pan , BTW .
