I would like to put on an alky kit. Have only a few basic bolt on(s). Not drag racing the car. Not gonna go wild with it. Would like some recommendations on a good beginners "easy" to install kit. Thanks.

42.5lbs injectors
turbotweak chip
Adj FP reg.
3" downpipe
hooker dual exhaust
Cold air intake kit
casper's hot wire kit
voltage booster
Walboro 255 fuel pump.

There is no beginners or advanced kit. Actually I believe i'm the only one making a turbo Buick specific kit. The only changes from a 13 second car to a 9 second car is the nozzle size and quantity. The other stuff is all the same.

Understand your doing this to raise boost and stop it from knocking. This is why you need proven parts to stop a possible problem from happening and not subject the car to trial and error. 99% of the cars I sell these systems to are street cars. And the old saying, you get what you pay for applies to this category.

Many ways to do everything, do your research and call around. See what you feel is the best for your particular situation.

Hope this helps,

Ryan, you have a lot of go fast goodies on your car already. May I ask why you are looking for more horsepower in a 100% street driven car?

Just want the car to be more "fun" on the street. Have been asking around what my next mod should be.......... Been told that Alky was to be the best bang for the buck. I'm all about best bang for the buck. Not have the resources to dig deap into the drive train. Love my bolt ons.

For stupid people like me....what is a 3 bar map sensor? What should I consider when getting an alky kit? In beginners language.

One BAR is the measure of atmospheric pressure at sea level which is 14.5 psi. Most GNs come with a 2 BAR MAP sensor to operate the 15psi boost gauge in the dash. The Alkycontrol kit allows more alky to be injected according to the amount of boost. If you don't have a 3BAR MAP sensor, the system will stop adding additional alcohol above 14.5 psi (2BAR). RAZOR explained it somewhere, but I cannot find it.

The alky kit allows you to add more boost and make more power without using race fuel. It allows you to run the same amount of boost on 93 octane as you can with 110 octane fuel without knock. More boost=more horsepower.

Alky

My .02...

There are many reasons to install alky. These are mine.

It is a very reliable product with excellent customer support.
I keep turning up the wick. Alky keeps the octane up and the knock down. Good for keeping the head gaskets on the engine, and off the floor.
I like it.

Alky is the best bang for the buck and alkycontrol is the place to get it! you will defiantly need the 3-bar for the boost you will be making on alky.

Once you install the kit and raise the boost, it will be more fun on the street.

After installing my kit I was able to safely raise the boost from 14 on up to 23, the addition of a Dutt necked I/C added an extra 2 PSI. So I'm up 11 psi that I started, while running nothing but 92 octane pump gas in the tank.

Buy the complete kit with 3 bar map sensor and install, then slowly raise the boost while monitoring for knock. (hopefully you've already done the spring cleaning + hotwire mod and a new high flow fuel pump) and start tuning. You won't be sorry.

Sounds like what I'm looking for. Since I'm on a rock........the norm is 92......may be able to track down 93 but not common. Know I'm getting ahead of myself. What is the basic install steps of an alky kit?

Follow Julio's included instructions and you shouldn't have a problem

Basic steps are install alky tank where the old radiator puke jug is, then install the pump behind front right of bumper, then hook up the two hoses, one from the pump to the alky tank and the other from the pump to the up pipe just before the throttle body. You'll have to pull off the up pipe and drill a hole for the injector. Clean metal debris out of up pipe and install injector. Reinstall up pipe and connect line.

Then you install the 3 bar map sensor in place of the 2 bar and tap into the green wire on the map plug in, then run that wire, the pump wires and the tan wire for the alky low level light into the car's interior via the firewall. Pull out the speedo gauge cluster and install two lamps supplied in their proper locations. Install speedo cluster and hook up a 2nd led that's a color changing and put it next to your boost gauge. Hook all this except low level light to pac controller and hide pac controller under dash. Hook up remote controller to pac and install between radio/hvac surround and gauge cluster surround. Hook low level light, pac controller wires to switched 12VDC source.

Then put in your choice of denatured alky (available at Lowes/Home Depot in the paint aisle) or if there's a nearby gas station that sells race fuels that has methanol....dump this in alky tank, prime system via pushing the test button on the remote controller, then take her out and give her hell. That is until you decide to start "increasing the boost" from stock...do this in small increments while watching for knock.
