Belt tensioner

On our tensioners, when they go "bad", what exactly IS going "bad"? The spring? Bearings? Do the castings crack?

Bearings going back isn't a problem because you can replace the pull...for mine its been the spring and cracking both.

Ive had one crack few years ago, im running my only spare one left, had 2 ,sold one to a friend, waiting for the billet re-run.....

Does anybody have checked those serpentine kits sold by MARCH?

also, I am checking how to open a tensioner (is cracked) in order to rebuild or even eliminate the stock spring and use something else.
