I have a 25k mile 87 w/
-42lb inj
-dump pipe/no cat
- 3" DP
-TT chip
-new fuel pump
-ScanMaster
- K/N filter
-volt booster
-RJ boost controller
How much improvement could I see with a larger turbo over stock? Thanks!!!

you need to upgrade your fuel pump to a 340 walbro and get a hotwire kit if you havent done so.... id stick with the setup you have and get a alky kit first and turn the boost up and see how you like that....if you decide the hell with it and just want a bigger turbo you might have to upgrade to bigger injectors

larger turbo

You'll see, feel, and hear a difference. The turbo will spool up quicker the shift to second will snap your neck and the smoke from the tires burning will blind the competition. Go for a TA-49 or a TE-44. These turbos will work great with the injectors and the setup you have.

Is the 44 or 49 as big as I should go without adding a torque convertor upgrade? I did change the fuel pump with a new one and I have it hotwired with the volt booster. Thanks!

larger turbo

Yes, the TE-44 and TA-49 are about as big as you can go without changing converter. These turbos are two most popular ones used.

If you like your current response and quickness on the street, you most likely will NOT like a turbo upgrade staying with the stock converter.

The stock turbo with proper mods will take you to low 12's , and be great on the street. Bigger is not always better with a turbo, depends on your current goals.

Car doesn't seem fast enough to me. I should probably get some DRs since mid first gear doesn't get enough traction. After 1st though, tires stick pretty well to the ground. The warm AZ weather doesn't help I sure. I'm running about 18-20lbs of boost without knock w/ racefuel.

25k mile gn

If the car is in good shape i would consider getting a high mileage one to beat on. I have a 25k mile GN and I would never even think of modding it. Although I did add the cross bracing in the trunk. But that's just me.

i changed my converter before i did the turbo and all i can say is WOW!!
I got a CCP ( art carr ) 9inch non-lock up and the difference is DAY & NIGHT!!
i had the same injectors you did, with a TT-chip and a walbro 340 fuel pump

that converter is just plain awesome
