Now that I have my cage cut out.
Just as the title says; What's the best aftermarket replacement carpet available?? Something that wont fade to green in a year or two?

I got mine through Posten's. Its the best aftermarket carpet that I have used so far, but still its only "good" compared to the fitment or the original. HTH

Though I haven't purchased their carpets yet, I've bought a lot of stuff from Jax over the years. All first quality stuff and the owner has several GN's.

Jax Seat Cover

Anybody have any feedback on Jax or 1A Auto's carpet sets??

Was it pre formed or have the proper backing material?

I was under the assumption everybody buys thier carpets from the same source.Auto Custom Carpets, Inc Auto Custom Carpets is the biggest place I know of that does thier own carpets. I've got one of thiers in my GN.Bought it at least 10 years ago. Its molded but does not come with a ton of insulation on the bottom. Depending on your tastes you'll have to buy 2 insulation sheets for the foot pan portions.

I have the carpet from Jax. It's ACC like Eric mentioned and appears to be very nice quality. I used some of the old insulation along with the new for a better fit. You will trim the sides and cut the seat holes but that's about it.

Interesting, and thanks. Looks like: ACC = $190
JAX = $128

We carry acc for $140.00. It has the insulation already under it.

Brian, do you have any background on the durability and colorfastness of this brand.

There sure doesn't seem to be much background available on carpeting. Only one response with actual experience (a good one though).

I have it in my wife's T-top 86 wh-1 for 3 years now with out sun shades. I haven't noticed any fading. She also has mats in there as well so maybe that helped.
I'll call acc today & get a UV rating. The UV rating lets you know how long it will hold up against the sun.
The problem with the less expensive carpets is that the UV rating is done in hours. GM is done in years.
ACC produced alot of the carpet for GM back in the day.

Thanks Brian, let me/us know if you get some good info.

i purchased some of Bweavey's carpet kits a few yrs ago and it fit very well. it has held up great no fading so far.

I tried the carpet from Jax a couple of years ago, while the color was OK, getting it to lay flat and fit to the floor was impossible. I don't know who supplied them, but had to order again from another vendor who carried the ACC line, and the fitment was much much easier.

Tric with the carpet is to lay it flat out inn the sun a get it hot and it is soo much easier to install.

Trick from my bud who does upholestery

all carpets come from auto custom carpets. layed mine out in the sun for the entire afternoon in the hot sun. still fit like crap. i sent it back and bought a good used one....

I ordered thru Jax...

Could get it either with or without the mass backing. My feeling is the mass backing makes things a little quieter and .....thicker. The trick in the hot sun is a must with the thicker carpet. The mass backing added $50, so I had $178 + transit in it. Drop shipped to my door from ACC - perfect dove gray!

I bought A1 Auto carpet from ebay. It was also ACC. Fit pretty good but insulation was kinda thin so I used some of my old stuff as well.
