i wanted to know what would be the best connecting rod to use with a stock comp. JE SRP pistons, stock crank?

Should i go H-beam? or can i use a stock style connecting rod for 580+ HP? Ive tried to do a search, i know ATR offeres rods but at a very high price.

Any help would be greatly appriciated?

oliver makes rods, i can take a pic of them if you want ihave a set here

sweet looking engine, thats how mine should look when im done,

anyways, thats a bit high $$ on my budget

I've never heard of stock rods giving a problem, though I could be wrong.Anyway,my motor seems to be doing just fine after two seasons making over 600hp with stock crank and rods with JE pistons.

HTH,
Steve

i did a search theres no real debate on it and no one seems to say what they are using and what numbers theyre running

anyone running 10's and lower with stock style rods?

I'm not running anywhere near 10's yet but in the past I've read some posts somewhere where people have had the beams ground and polished to reduce the risk of stress risers and cracks forming and if your haveing a balance job done then this and some good rod bolts should be all thats needed since these engines don't see a lot of RPM. I'm sure others will chime in, just my opinion.

anyone going tens on stock rods? uh. hell yes. tons of people. It is a pretty damn rare thing to hear of someone bending or breaking one.

well people can be BS'ing and i dont want to build a block im going to break in a week. but anyways ATR offers a nice h-beam rod. i think im heading that direction

I've been running stock rods for 3 years now with no problems. I have many 10 sec passes on them.

Good Luck

don't forget the SFI damper and flexplate for that 10 second motor. stock rods work fine at your power level. if you really want good rods at a fair price wait for eagle to make the new crank and rods.

I personally know of many people running stock GN crank/rods and either TRW or JE's into the 10's with no problems. I don't think I've ever heard of a rod breaking/twisting etc.

Spend your money elsewhere.... how about making the car lighter? You've spent it on everything else already :).

I will let you know that as of the PRI show, Eagle will be making cranks but they are not going to make the rods for our applications. Too bad, they could sell a boat load of them.

say you put oliver rods and forged crank in a 109 block...then the block becomes the weakest link...hmm..i would just save my money....
