What Is the best downpipe & header combo out there... I was going to run the KB header with a 3.5inch GN1 header.... What the difference in the ATR style header & the different style headers out there... I am running a 60/1 turbo with an AR .63 housing...

Stock headers and 3" Houston style downpipe.

hello people; I'd like to see a Houston down pipe as it's talked about in differant threads. What would be copy of it these days? I have a old BGC one that you would get in combo with the housing at the turbo it connects too. Would you call that a copy or something totally differant?

I just put a new RJC 3" pipe on mine and it has a nicer bend and wastegate entry than I remember my real THDP having. I'm planning on 9's eventually with my stock headers and a 3" pipe:eek:

headers and downpipe

hi,can a new member respond? I own an 87 gn, with stock headers and ATR 3 in. downpipe. What i was wondering was is anyone using RJC 5 in. pipe? It looks like something more for 9 second cars. Just wondering. By the way, thanks for allowing me to be a part of your great site. Skidman.

I use a flat file to make sure both surfaces are flat and then use nothing, put a little anti-seize on the threads, and lock washers under the allen bolts. In the past I have also oversized the holes in the downpipe for a little more wiggle room to clear the heaterbox on the top and/or frame on the bottom.

Also + 6 or whatever on the stock headers and the downpipe that's in the picture, I went with the external wastegate design from http://www.hyetechperformance.com/downpipe.html a vendor on here.

Yes, Houston style downpipe.

It seems the THDP is no longer available? What is the next best thing?
There are several vendors that sell Houston style downpipes.

Yes, good way to do it.

A 5" downpipe is only fits turbos that use a v-band so it's not for a typical stock style or upgrade. It's meant for big turbos.

T/A performance SS headers and a THDP or maybe an external ATR if u have boost issues like me

As has been said....stock headers and a 3" THDP unless you plan on going faster than 10's.

You can pick up good THDP's used for a good deal if you watch the sale board carefully. That's how I got mine.

Thanks for the advice... My stock headers cracked so I decided to go with some new ones... Are there any dealers out there still selling the THDP

did i read the topic right ? I thought he asked for BEST ? Stock headers are chit they crack easy and have to be rewelded.

Stock headers can be fine. Mine are not cracked. Much depends on the application, low boost, not racing then weld them. If you have bad stock headers the new ones from TA are an good choice if you got the coin. I'll run mine until they crack and if they do then I'll weld them, no biggie.
