I was just checking with everyone to see what is the best new performance car on the market now? I would like to keep it under 40k. I'm talking drag strip performance. Which car has the best potential to go fast. I'm going to buy a new car and would like some advice choosing one. I don't care what make or model the car is but I like turbo or supercharged cars only. I wish I could have done this back in 1987 if you know what I mean:D.
 
Yes, The 03 Cobra has already been 10.50's in slightly modified form. Let me know what you think.
 
'03 Cobra without a doubt!!! Only downfall I see in this car is the fact that you can't get one with an automatic trans (I hope you're good with a stick), but that might change in the upcoming years and you could always change out the T56 6-speed for an AOD like Nitrous Pete did and while you're at it get rid of the stock IRS for a solid..... I know I know I'm getting ahead of myself;) :D
 
absolutely. 2003 Cobra.. Actually 2 are in the 9's that have nothing but bolt ons..
 
actualy Petes 9 second Cobra has the original IRS rear..

another vote for the '03 cobra! Those things are bad ass! I would give my left nut to own a manual trans blue one.....:eek:
 
An 87 WE4 or T with 100 miles on it. :) 20k or so and for the additional 20k left over can be an 8 or 9 second ride. :)
 
03 Cobra....Hey it must be kick ass to get these kind of props here. I'm looking for one:D

silver convertible looks frickin sweet, just make sure you buy the completely worthless rear spoiler too!
 
Considering the turbo'd or SC'd options...I'd say you've got about 3 viable choices (1 each from the BIG THREE...sweet).

1. '03 Cobra
2. '04 Grand Prix GTP (with the Tap-shift, yeah! That'll be my next daily driver)
3. '04 Neon SRT

You're looking at subtracting like $7k for each step down in the list...that's a lot of mod money. But if you're going NEW I assume you want a haul-azz car with a warranty. That would mean no major mods right off, wouldn't it?? That's a big nod to the Cobra since it'll waste the other 2 cars stock.

Both other cars are WWD (Wrong-Wheel Drive) but will hold people and gear way more comfortably. The GTP is a borderline luxo-ride in my opinion, and the Neon has good layout inside a small body. The Cobra rides like crap and has joke backseats (or so I've read). Need it to work in snow? Good luck.

Basically if you want 1 car that will tear it up at the dragstrip and be warrantied for 3 years, and don't haul people and gear regularly, the Cobra is pretty much ideal. I personally would go with the GTP since it's very quick, roomy, and comfortable. A pulley change away from 13s all day. The Neon SRT will take out like 99% of the cars on the road and leave you wondering where all this excess money was coming from.

Sorry, just read your sig. I assume you're AWARE of the GTPs then, hahaha.

Sounds to me like you want justification in buying a Cobra! :p
YOU HAVE MY PERMISSION! If you've got a daily driver in the 13s already the new GTP and Neon aren't gonna feel like anything special. Test that Cobra and let us know how it goes!
 
03 Mach 1...........I can't believe no one voted for this beast. This thing is knocking on 12's WITHOUT A SUPERCHARGER!!:eek: Save the money you'd save on buying a cobra and buy yourself a Kenne Bell Supercharger and you'll be smoking Cobra's. AND it's got a real solid rear(over time, the independent won't last long with all that horsepower in the Cobra). Plus it's got the looks over a Cobra big time. This is my opinion and i'm sticking to it!! ;)
 
umm, a supercharger on a 10:1 compression ratio engine?? Not a good combo. OR its a 3 lb boost pulley which would be useless. The cobra engine is cast iron MADE for high boost.. Mach 1's are nice no doubt but the Cobras are way faster.. and potential for way more
 
I went to the Ford dealer and they won't let you test drive the Cobra unless you buy it first:mad:. I'll probably be buying one in the next week or two. I just need to deside if I wan't the convertible or not. It's too bad GM doesn't have anything to compare it to. Thanks for the advise. I feel like a trader:(. Well it's GM's fault:rolleyes:
 
sorry fellas,the zo6 is the one i would want.it produses the numbers without a supercharger and pulls 1g on the skid pad.it also looks WAY better.:D we are GM people arent we?:D :D :D
