Scott

I also use NGK iridiums in my WRX. I trust no other plug

how many miles have those plugs lasted you?

Esasky's,
I'm from Greensburg :D

BTW, I just picked up some CR43TS's at Autosupermarket in Gbg., in case you have trouble finding them.....

guys, what are the advantages of the colder 43 as opposed to the stock 44. tried them once, did not seem as quick (may just have been me) so i switched back.

I think I am going to try the NGK Iridums next also.

I have yet to find a spark plug for the GN that you can get WITHOUT the resistor. Many imports with weaker coils found that when switching to a non resistor plug that the car would not break up on high boost, like 28-32 psi.

NGK all the way. remember if you do not go with ngk buy your plugs a a dealer. Everyone but ngk will put seconds on the market (plugs that are not 100% perfect). The dealers are the only ones that get ac's firsts. NGK crushes all defalts.

Where is everone getting the NGK UR5 part # from? The NGK website vehicle application chart calls out for UR4's for use in a 86-87 Grand National. Are you referring to the one step colder plug?

Yes turbojoe, UR5 is a step colder. Which I by the way recommend.

Thanks SCOTT4DMny. Also, What is Iridium? Is it anything like platinum plugs? From what i have read, These cars dislike platinum plugs. How do the Turbo Regals respond to the Iridium plug? What are the benifits over the normal NGK's? Lastly, will the one step colder plug help to reduce the knock a bit, or at least be one step of many, that when combined, will cummulatively reduce and eventually eliminate the knock problem i am experiencing?

I am no scientist so I cannot go in depth. I did ALOT of research on the iridium plugs and "from what I remember" The iridium can take much more heat. Since they can take the extra heat, you will notice that the electrode is very small, or TINY if you will, this allows for more area for spark as opposed to the bigger electrodes. You can definitely notice the difference if you put the two together. If you look at all the Japanese/tuner cars, they are mostly using iridiums. They are perfect for turbo cars because they withstand heat which if the plug cannot withstand the heat it can cause detonation. Hope I clarified it for ya. Its been a while.

Thanks for Kwik reply! Yes, that does help me to understand a little better. Thank you!
