Thought I'd ask who has the best price. 95% street miles I just would like better traction when I do go race it someday .

Amazon has the NT555R 275/60/15 for $151 ea. free shipping. MT's would give you more bite though.

I've had big and mt drag radials on my TA I liked the big ok.
I am thinking 275/50/15 in size.

I bought a set of those from Discount Tire for about the same money- they actually price matched an internet deal that I showed them... And yes, they are no good in the wet!

The bfg drag radials aren't too bad in wet weather. But I switch to mt et streets for the track.

Beware M/T ET Street radials if it's wet! Best tire in the dry but a wreck waiting to happen when it gets even damp on the roads. Just my .02 Jon

I must have some special super asphalt compound down where I live because I have better traction in the wet with my ET streets than any street radial that's ever been on my car.

If you stay out of the boost they work great, if you get into the boost no tire is going to save your ass when the road is wet.

I guess I drive different than most because I prefer the M/T's at all times and feel safe in every driving condition because I know the limits and respect them.

Would I go through standing water at speed ? no, but I love everything about the M/T except that they don't last more than 3,500 miles.

I go through two to three sets a year because it's the only tire that I can use on the street or track and have some traction and not go sideways at 70MPH when I get on it.

I guess everyone has their preference and I'm just sharing mine. It's all in how you drive and if you have no tread left yeah you will have problems.

Drove 120 miles home from bpg in downpours with nittos that are a few years old. Not ideal but never felt unsafe

Couple years ago they were 130 from discounttire. Price keeps going up.

IF you put heat into a Nitto .. they work very well at the track .. IMO they are the best all around drag radial .. the MT's ball up in the street and don't last long and hook marginally better at the track ... the Hoosier Drag radial is second in my book.
Put heat into them at the track and they hook great .

for a driver car that sees occasional track use ... the Nitto is hard to beat

I checked out Discount Tire when I was looking but they didn't offer free shipping to Hawaii. Shipping anything to or from here is very costly if it doesn't fit in a flat rate box.

275/60-15 Nitto nt555r at Walmart for 150 lol and bought 2 mickey Thompsons same size for 428 shipped through amazon. Free shipping and no tax

I have been driving on MT ET Streets for years and they are not a problem in the rain IF you drive very conservatively and don't expect them to handle like a regular street tire.

I just got some 275/60/15 nittos from CL for 145 for both used . I like them because they last longer then MTs but must admit they don't hook as well . If I need super hooking I'll slap the slicks on :-)

For mostly street I say the Nitto's mainly for longevity........The Nitto is the best wet DR tire IMO due to the full tread design.

Yes the Micke'y T can be driven in the wet if you are careful......I have the Mickey T's on my GN and my Vette right now. The GN's are shot and I am going back to a Nitto......I do have a brand new set of Mickey T's just for track use.

I got caught in the rain one time in my vette.....I was driving real slow...35-40mph.....in a turn the back end started to come around on me. The tires are very wide 325/50/15 so the center section is just like a slick....granted the vette is much lighter in the rear than the GN it still did it. I don't drive either cars in the rain but the Buick does get driven more as it has all the comfy stuff.......the vette is bare bones not even windshield wipers.

I have been in the rain plenty in the GN when I had the Nittos and never once worried about the rear getting loose ( baby the pedal and zero boost of course ) and drove the speed limit and had zero issues and felt very confident in the wet traction.
