Best scantool

I need to buy 2 things in the next couple of weeks.

1. Sacntool

2. 87 ECM

SO tell me which scantool have guys had the best results with. Which one is most user friendly etc......

I think I saw something somewhere, like a comparison chart showing the different scantools and their capabilities/features.

i like turbo link the best.you will need a laptop to run it.

you will also need a new chip for that 87 ecm.

The best scantool bar none is DirectScan, but you need an 86/7 ecm and a laptop for it...It will tell you everything what is happening...BUT it will also overwhelm you if you haven't had anyother scantools before...DirectScan will show I think about 18 frames of info per second, where all the other ALDL based scantools will show roughly 1 frame per second and a half...Quite the difference there...

Scanmaster is fine but you can't see all the info at the same time...TurboLink would be better for that...Scanmaster is good to have after you have tuned the car in and you want to monitor certain things while driving...TurboLink and DirectScan will let you record all the information to view later, which will help tune things in...

As has been mentioned in another thread, if you aren't using a scantool to tune your car, you are flying completely blind and chasing your tail trying to troubleshoot problems...
