I can get a decent deal on a set of 28X11.5X15's.. are these pretty much out of the question?

So what in your opinion is the best slick and what size? Keep in mind this is for a stock GN rim..

TIA

Are those ET streets or real slicks.

If they are real slicks, they won't even come close to fitting. If they are ET Streets, you will probably still need about a 1/4" to 3/8' spacer to keep them off the frame with GN wheels (which are just a little too narrow for this size tire anyway, but they will work OK)

28 X 9.0 slicks would work best with the stock GN wheels.

They are ET Streets.

Thanks for the opinion on the other question.

Now make.: Hoosier.. M/T...?

I'm running 26x8' mt et drags.., no problems, no rubs, no traction loss- launch @ 8 lbs. boost... just my o2.

I heard that the 28 is better for the trap speed, no?

In your sig it says you have no times.. are you running around on those drags on the street? I am interested in your times if you have some as I have pretty much the same setup you do and would like to know what to expect.

actually, i just forgot to update my sig... Last week i ran a 13.20 @106 @ 16 lbs boost, (0 knock, o2's at 800) very hot, very humid day and bad reaction times...:p

I can't say which is better for the traps, as i only have the 26's, would be interesting though to borrow a pair of 28's...:p

ohh and another question. How much difference can I expect from the ET Drags over ET Streets? How much boostcan I hold at the line? Time differences?

Thats not too good for slicks. I ran the exact same time on drag radials with a 2.35 60' Assuming you had about the same 60' you must have been spinning a lot

no comparison between streets and drags. anybody who says they are close is lieing. If you want too go fast and leave hard ( between lets say 10-15# of boost a real slick is the only way too go

To infinity and beyond!! :P

As fast as I can with what I have for now...

In the long run 11's.

when i was in the 12's i ran 26x9x15 hoosier quick time pros on stock gn rims. they hook great but dont last too long. hoosiers qt pros are better than et streets in my opion.

nope, usually drag radials or dot slicks. i'm a die hard street racer(dont tell anyone) so i use dot tires. if and when i go to the track i run the same gear.

GNANIMOoooooo,
Since you live down the street I don't need to tell you anything here that I can't tell you in person ;)

Anywho, listen to UNGN, he is one of those BTDT guys. Truthfully it takes a lot of tweaking to get your car to hold 10-15psi at the line. And like we discussed there is a difference in compounds between the ET Street and Drag.

However, one thing that slipped my mind up until now is my buddy Kevin Keeler. He is an NMCA bracket racer and has gone 1.6 on an ET Street with a slightly modded 305 and a 150 shot with a basically stock suspension. So anything is possible.

I'll call ya tomorrow night.

Good luck with your choice,
