Just wanted to know what size of Hoosier quick times work best. I borrowed a set of 28x9 Mickey Thompsons and they killed my MPH! I guess I need 26 x9's. I'll be putting them on a set of weld drag lites (15 x 8). Also, I was looking into the Mickey Thompson drag radials, has anyone ran with a set yet? Hot Rod mag had some good reviews about them. Thanks for the help!

No one I know has had access to the new MT's yet.

Summit hasd a date of late july on the website.

How fast is the car and did youre 60 ft times change when you went from a 26 to a 28 at the same boost level.

Are you running a turbo buick or tta??

Most people feel that on a turbo buick that they get better 60 ft times from a 28 inch slick especially if the car is a mid 12 sec or quicker car.So they find out that the et is actually better due to the better 60 ft and ability to build more boost at the line etc.And they are willing to give up some mph to get it.

From not owning a tta I can tell you that most of them feel that a 26 inch tall slick is the way to go.

Hope some of this helps.

I easily fit the Hoosier 27 x 10.5 Quick Time Pros on an 8" rim.

3.75 backspace.

They have street DOT grooves in them, I think 3. :D

Hooked good on a poorly prepped track here, got a few 1.79 first time out. :)

Leaving with a lot more boost than on the drag radials too.

Drag radials are usually 1.9's at best there with low boost launches. :(

I think you need to roll the lip to fit the 11.5 size in there.

I like the 27's since they fit both my cars and buildups and are a good compromise between 26's and 28's.

Best Slicks

I have a '86 GN. I only had the car out twice. First time with the 235/60/15 radials and ran a 14.20 @101 mph. I only had a few mods at the time like fuel pump, vlv springs and most of the other basic bolt ons. I was running 15 lbs boost with about 7-8 degs. knock. I bought a set of Delphi 38# injectors , updated my Red 93 chip and bought the hot wire kit. My friend let me borrow the MT 28x11.50 and I ran a 14.70 @ 97! I know for one I need an adj. fuel reg. (using a 237 now). had a 2.5 60 foot. I have some work to do!

Ok the problem you have is the car is not tuned correctly. Also are you brake boosting??

You changed alot of things other then just the tires so to blame them without looking at other things would be a mistake.

Get an adjustable fpr and tune the car correctly with a scan gauge.

Also try brake boosting at the line.
Just in case you havn't heard of it it is when you hold the foot brake then depress the gas to the point at which you are building some boost. Then at the correct time release the brake and add more throttle.

It will take some trial and error to see how much you can do with this method but you will be able to leave much harder.

But once again use a good scan guage and set the car up correctly before any more WOT blasts.

I'd hold off on slicks until you get your car running better.

28" tires won't "kill the mph" of a properly tuned TR, even a stock turbo one (unless they don't have any air in them).

Knock, running too low boost/octane or running a 93 chip at the track will kill your mph, though, guaranteed.

I couldn't decide between 26" and 28" either so I got the 27 x 10.5 (really a 9" tire) Hoosier QTPs. Very happy with a best 60' of 1.562 and an average of 1.64 on a good track - 1.73 on a bad track. (14# - 15# launch off of the foot brake)
