But people wouldn't be able to read the newest threads on "which is the best" plug, oil, filter, combo, etc etc etc.

Or "do I need a blow off valve" :D

Best luck threw the years have been a/c 42's gaped at 32 and for race I run autolite ar133. (Iron heads)

For my aluminum heads, long reach plug I'm liking the NGK TR-6 gapped @ .32 Had Autolite 103's for a little while they fouled out on me. They were gapped around .28 & was time for some new ones. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to them but I'm liking the NGK's at around 22-23psi.

autolite #23's tight 28" gap

I second that. I tried going to 24's and .032" gap and the spark kept blowing out at 22psi. I thought something terrible was wrong til I put the old plugs back in it was fine again.

You had some other issue. Maybe a cracked insulator or something. A hotter or colder heat range wont have any effect on the ignitions ability to make a spark.

I've been running NGK UR-5's for several years now & they seem to work great. Boost is currently around 21 & my gap is .030
