hi

im have my motor rebuild i had a cam in it but dont know anything about it. im question is what is the best camshaft to put in? car will be for the most part street and the drag racing?

I would go with a 206-206 or 212-212 ROLLER cam. I talked to Jack Cotton, and Bison. Jack said guys have been into the 9's with the 206-206 FWIW, and Bison said my car would rip with it. I bought a 206 but havent had the car running with it in yet :frown:. But we need to know what kind of turbo and converter you plan on running first.

If you are using the stock heads id use the stock cam but would not go over 206 as dd said unless you plan on buying a really good converter, heads and have a 6031 or larger turbo and plan on running it over 25psi. Otherwise more cam than that will just hurt the fun factor a lot. Fwiw John Crawford still rns a 206/206 in his 140+mph combo with un-ported GN1's

i was thinking of a little bigger than stock turbo. stock heads with maybe some work done to them. the motor had a aftermarket cam in it. marked on the end 3371 J9334. i guy i got the motor from was running 11s in 1/4. i have the cam checked. .448 int lift .440 exhaust 111 lobe separation. dur@.050 239 int and 231 exh.

Just rebuilt my motor and went with the 210-215 cam from full throttle and a 6062 turbo and champion irons and my car pulls like a frieght train! Just have about 200 miles on it so I dont have any times yet bit I really, really like how it pulls and I have 255-50-16 drag radials on the car and they will not hold it,will smoke them at a 30mph role!!

Cool. I really like the sounds of that cam. What housing on the turbo, and 10 in PTC?

Yes, it is a 10 inch ptc and got it from dusty. I think it is really a good combo. Would you boost 231 tell me the difference between the 206-206 cam and the 210-215 camshafts. I built my car to run 11'0s to 10'90s and I believe it will do it with some good tires. Just would like to know the difference,Thanks

Sorry buttonfly, forgot to answer the other part of you question. I dont know what housing is on my turbo.Mike at full throttle fixed me up on the 6262 turbo and I run 25lbs of boost with it.

i can not tell you the differences from the 206/206 to the 210/215. i only have experience with the 206/206 and the 212/212. sorry i couldnt help more

boost231 what what is the major difference btw the 206/206 and 212/212? I tried both the 206/206 and 218/218 flat tappet. On the freeway the 212/212 is more likeable.

He would have a hard time answering that since there are a few different grinds of each of those out there.

Im not sure of all the differences between cams,But the 206/206 High Lift webber cam in my Blue T with a 45a(66mm Turbo) and Champ Irons ran 11.0/18psi Through a unlocked Precision multidisk.around 123mph.

No cage in the car,So never got a chance to turn it up,And actually couldnt turn it down enough to run over the 11.49,With the HD actuator on the turbo.
