I'm looking for the best way to clean a polished stainless DP I just got. I know I've heard vinegar but have done a search and couldn't find anything. Looking for any help on this and is it possible to get the normal coloring of blue's, gold, and bronze out and possibly back to a shiny silver. Thanks

there are products and even some things you probably have at home that can clean stainless. probably not back to new but better than what you probably have now. just google it

You can clean ss with many products and get it shiny but from the amount of heat it will just turn those colors again. I think the colors look good.

The only way I've been able to get it clean and shiny again was re polishing. With a 1 HP Baldor motor, and it was still a B.

I don't mind repolishing the pipe as i know it will turn again and I do like the inbetween tarnish of blues and gold but on some spots it's way past that and already that brown bronze color that i don't like so much. I was just curious about the vinegar thing i read. I think i might just go to the local auto store and see what they have on the shelf if anyone has any recommendations or experiences to help me decide what polish to use.

hello people; I like the brushed look and when I got the a car back from getting tires there was this crud all over my SS exhaust tips. I use red scotchbright and some WD to get it off. And before the SS exhaust was put on I did the same.

Not trying to get off topic but that crud was probably rubber. Did you leave your car alone with the shop? If so I would never do that again.

back on topic I've heard the vineger thing but have never tried it. I know it works on hardwood floors but that's not quite the same. Let us know how the stuff you got works.

You can always send the dp to be coated. It won't discolor any more and look great. It will keeps the engine bay tems down as well.

OOOOH I'd be pissssssed.

Agree. If your not in a hurry, get it jettcoated.

X2!...That's what I did. Before that, it was polished but heat was constantly tarnishing it to a not very pretty yellow-blue color...I then decided to have it ceramic-coated and it's been holding up well since!...

My Houston got charcoal ceramic coat and it looks boofull.

Well i got the blue job and it actually did work. I probably would have taken it back to polished silver but being that it's a paste you have to rub and rub and rub somemore and being that my arm was about to fall off i only took out the brown and get it back to shiney blue golds and green. So in my opinion it's worth the $6 i paid for it.
