Best way to keep aluminum wheels shiny?

I had a set of polished "Hammer" rims about 10 years ago and I remember them getting real dull around the lip and some on the rim itself. I was told it was the clearcoat coming off. I plan on getting some more aluminum rims, but don't want to run into the same problem. I was told it was the stuff I used on my tires that made it dull. What do you guys use to keep rims such as Centerline Auto Drags or Convo Pros clean? My car is no show car by any means, but like all GNs it is a head turner.

Wenol, Mother's aluminum polish, and similar products work well. My advice---chrome those fuggers.
