Whats the best way (location) and what braided hoses are recommended to use for a new fuel system-i will be running E-85 on a stage2 motor?

With E-85 you'll want some type of lined hose, or even an anodized aluminum line. I ran my line thru the frame rail on the left side, no E-85, just race fuel. Phil.

I was thinking of running braided hose with Teflon lining and 12 an ends to maatch my new fuel pump sender lines with 1/2" tubes and 12 an ends but I would like to hear from someone as to the best way to route it to the front which I was thinking pass side fuel rail up to the rear of the motor to the fuel rail with a 180* bend.

I'm also in the same boat. Got the tank and rear end out. Looks like I'll try to run the lines -08 feed and -06 return through the frame up where the stock lines were to feed from the front, but I'm not sure I can fit them up through where the stock lines were around the timing cover.

So do you guys think it’s safe to run braided line the hole way plus doesn’t braided line have to be replaced every few years. I want to run hard line but in stainless I can’t find 1/2 in line. Most likely I will use the old feed line as the return line. I posted up a hose topic in the e-85 board no one took much interest in it. I was going to post my parts list there tonight. And see if that would get any one talking. I’m using Fragola Teflon premade hose they come with the ends on them so all I have to do is run them and screw them together. I’m going to run -8 feed and run -6 to each rail. I’m still waiting on my fuel rails I found a place to make them in stainless and as soon as they give me a price I will know if I will be using a stainless fuel rail or an aluminum one.

I'm planning on taking pictures and putting the part numbers for my setup once I get it all figured out, using the factory rails, -8 and -6, removing stock lines, and using the stock location billet fp reg. Here are the threads with part numbers that I'm referencing in my build, also going Weldon 1100 for the pump instead of a 2015:

I’m still debating on the return line if I’m going to replace it or use the stock feed line. I may end up using the stock fuel rails if my stainless ones don’t work out. I’m coming close to the end of my budget and the fuel line up grade wasn’t planned at all I bent the return line somehow and now I have to do something. I was just thinking stainless duel feed fuel rails would take care of any fuel problems I would have with the e-85 I’m trying to use as little non Teflon hose and as little aluminum as possible.

I'm pretty sure GM runs stainless steel lines on the flexfuel car. You might consider that. It may be cheaper.

The problem is finding anything in stainless steel bigger then 3/8. Most guys here think that is too small of a line and that you need at least 1/2 in line. I think 3/8 would work just fine for me now but everyone says to go -8 or 1/2, that’s for my car I’m only using 80lbs injectors for the guys using 120 and 160 they may need the -8 or 1/2 line. Price wise compared to 3/8 hard line stainless steel there is not much difference. The only way I would save allot of money would be if I kept the stock rails and single feed line and I may do that depending on the price of the new fuel rails.

Classic tube told me that they could do 1/2" stainless steel to stock specs for $200 for the feed and $200 for the return.

I have to agree with that- I d rather run braided lined hose. Than the $400. For ss lines.

Why not just go with NOS GM Parts? Nos4Gn has all lines for a I think 220$. Don't quote me. Another question I have is, if 1/2 is bigger than stock lines, won't you lose pressure?

681tonburb,
Don't you think it will be cheaper in the long run since you have to replace the braided lines after awhile.

If you plan on running after-market braided hose, then Teflon braided lines are the way to go. They have made some great advancements in teflon hoses since the advent of E85/flex fuel vehicles. They are lighter than rubber and more flexible than previous teflon hoses. They can handle more pressure, more heat and the teflon tube will last forever. Since teflon hoses are being used in OE applications for fuel systems, the cost has been brought down to be more affordable.

S/S braided rubber hoses eventually WILL fail. Food for thought: I had a stainless braided rubber fuel line fail up next to the fuel rail at the beginning of a season. The hose was only maybe 3 years old, was not exposed to high heat and had never leaked before. With 2 high pressure pumps feeding the line, it failed and there were MASSIVE amounts of fuel dumping on the back of the intake manifold and running down the side of the engine. If I had the engine running for any length of time with hot exhaust manifolds, I would've been in a bit of trouble.

Thats the down side dont know how long the teflon hose will last. its around $90 to all the house so If you had to redo it one time it would cost as much as the stainless.
I posted my parts list here http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/e85-technical-forum/336444-hoses.html#post2673616 It has every thing Im using but the fuel rails Im still waiting on the estamet to come back on the new stainless rails. I may also end up running a new 3/8 return line before its over.

E85 needs WAY more volume, they use big pumps.

Use Stainless! Do it right the first time & be done with it! Thats what I would do personally.
