Is there a specific year TH400 core that is desired more than another?

I know I'm looking for a BOP bolt pattern and short tailshaft, but aside from that... what??

Thanks,
-Banning.

BOP short tails are going to be from 67-72 A-body 2 and 4drs (wagons have a long tail), 67-70 Riviera, 67-70 Buick Fullsized, 67-76 Firebirds with the 400/455, and for whatever reason the 74-76 Pontiac Grand Prix. Best core would be the BB code from the 70-71 Buick GS455 or just about any TH400 from after 1969 as they changed the internals and the filter to the more common stuff. My '64 ST400 is a 1 year weirdy VB and takes the "submarine" filter verus the newer "pancake" filter you can actually get.

The odd filter was used until 1967. The good direct drum was used until ~1971, and I have taken some later model units apart that still had them, but they are only an upgrade if you install the 34 element sprag on them.
So a good core would be a 68-71 model IMO.

I have a BOP short shaft core in the shop I can sell or build but you're quite a ways away.

Do you mean 67-72 Buick A-bodies or would the tranny out of say a 1970 Olds 442 work, because there is one of those around me currently for sale.
And if I got one from a 67 my plans are for a reverse manual valvebody and a trans brake, the differences wouldn't have any effect would they?
