HOT SPOT
Since acquiring the ESP FM ... I needed to remove the 10k BTU trans. cooler from its mounting place ... on the face of the rad.
WOW ... when I removed the trans. cooler I found that it had melted the spacers (4 of them) right into the fins on the cooler.
Only thing I can figuer is that the 9" converter MAKES A TON OF HEAT".
Guys at the rad shop hadn't seen any melted spacers before. So my suggestion is to keep trans and/or oil coolers away from the front surface of the rad. Behind the lower air dam, or in front of a wheel well plastic liner (around the area behind the head lite buckets.... and direct airflow via lite weight ducts.
Every now and again we have to outsmart the (1980's vintage) Buick engineers to keep these puppys workin.
I agree with Kwikr1 .... going to an industrial hose/fittings shop that deals with PARKER and other similar HD hose/tubing is a good way to avoid nuisance of chasing around for EARLS or XP or RUSSEL fittings. Industrial stuff looks indestructable and seems to price out a lot less than SHINY S'STEEL braided hoses with multi coloured (blue-red) fittings IMHO.
