Thats cheap. They would make some good plow trucks if they had a full cab.

You could get ready for the zombie attack.

They are available all the time in running condition. I have a dealer friend who has bought more than 10 of them. It is intimidating to sit in one, the seat bottom is at the top of my head when standing on the ground. You are way up there - it is a big frikkin truck. Most of them have teen miles also, well under 20K and they are usually mid-80s age. Just like the government - buy a bunch of trucks for $75,000 each, barely use them, then sell them for 10% of their original value. Many have brand new tires on them because they go through them before selling them. A set of tires is $5K and they are massive!

Funny you should say that. I just bought one from the government auction site for $4,200 with only 16,000 miles and 476 hours on it.

It's a 1991 harsco 6x6 14' bed and looks and runs like brand new.

Watch out the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE is coming and I'll be leading the charge in my new to me military toy.

The reason they dump them at auction is once they reach a certain age they are deemed unreliable for our troops to use regardless of miles.

I have no problem with this mentality as I want our men in the newest and best equipment possible to keep them alive. Let's be real about it also, if this was in fact a waste of taxpayers money and was the biggest drain on us I would tell them to try to keep them running like we do with our 28 year old TRs. Our cars don't need any maintenance and just keep on going forever without nickel and diming us to death right?

It's a drop in the bucket compared to how our politicians rape us to the tune of billions every year, but at least in this case we get something for our money unlike say giving GE [general electric] the courtesy of not paying one dime in taxes on profits of 6 billion last year. How many trucks do you think 35% of 6 billion would buy???

Oh yea like you said: these truck are BAD AZZZZ!!!!

A higher up at the utility company I work for had a crazy idea of buying two of these and adding outriggers and a 50ft altec boom. They ended up being the most reliable trucks we had last winter. They will go through just about anything

Damn! Really slick! I just went to my beloved wife and said if we got that we'd be the talk of the neighborhood! She said "No one talks to us anyway." (sigh) And also a big 'NO!" :rage: Marriage....it's always a good thing.
