Billet Aluminum Pulleys

I talked to the guy who does the billet pulleys for RJC Racing. He told me that they don't make the billet alum. pulleys for the
hot-air cars. After some discussion he agreed to make some pulleys for us, but there is a catch. I have to convince at least ten of you hot air guys to go in on kind of a group purchase type of thing, because without enough interest it's not worth it to him to make them. The other thing is that someone must be willing to send him a set of stock pulleys to use as a model.

He said the price would be the same as for the IC cars.

Now the Questions
1. How many people are interested?
2. Anyone willing to send him a set to model these after?

The last thing is that I need to check and be sure that I'm right. I beleive that the crank pulley on the hot air cars has the balancer attached. Right?
This means that we wouldn't be able to do the crank pulleys.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Harmonic Balance and pulley are not one piece.

Also, has anyone checked to see if our pulleys resemble any other pulleys out there. Like those found on a certain year small block for example. Could there already be some aftermarket "show" pulleys available that would work? Wouldnt be surprised if there is.

I am not sure if I would have the money to do this purchase but, if you get the ten people and Jason needs a set to model them after. Let me know my car is currently not running and I happen to be friends with Jason and could take my car apart and get the pulleys to Jason to get these made. Like I said let me know.

I'm not certain if they are stock or underdrive, but I will call on Monday and ask. Even if they are stock size there is a reciprocating weight difference that doesn't look like much at first but should make a noticable difference.
Plus the billet Aluminum looks really nice.

Years ago, a good friend of mine who works in a machine shop, built a 30 percent underdrive (crank only) pulley for me. It is made out of billet aluminum. I have found no downsides to it.

IMO, if you are going to have them made, go with an underdrive.

Where do I sign up? I posted interest in the razor pulleys a while back. do a search with my user and "pulleys" if your bored. I'm totally diggin the razor style pulleys. either or..I'll go for their plain jane ones too. I'll definetly buy a set if they're serious into making a set for hot-airs.

I just got done going to a serpentine belt set up, this is for those who are not running a/c. I bought the Champion a/c delete bracket(billet aluminum-$230.00), very nice piece that brings your alternator over to the right side of the car and stright across from the water pump pulley. I also got the RJC billet pulleys for the crank,water pump and alternator. I got all my stuff through Cal/Holly Hartline, they are great to deal with and if your interested in doing this conversion give them a call(321)722-1563. You will need a p/s pump,reservoir and cap from an 86/87 car and some 5/8(2 feet),3/8(3 feet) p/s hose and a tee with two 5/8 outlets and one 3/8 outlet. You will also need to relocate your fuel filter as it will be in the way of the new bracket, i got an 86/87 fuel line to the rail and put my filter inline under the car like 86/87 cars(there are other options). I am hoping to post some pics this week and looks and works real well.

Underdrive meaning smaller? Am I correct?

Why not an OD?
I realize that there are more losses but would one gain in cooling and alternator output on a daily driver?

I went by the Postons tent..

I went by the postons tent at BG this year and there was a box with MARCH underdrive pulleys for a HOTAIR. I didnt ask what the price was, but I would just buy them from March if you can. They are already made and probably ready for order. Or if not march then through postons definitely.

The kit is pricey, but it is already made and probably has some kind of warranty and you can buy them individually as well.
