i would use "SEM" trim black. you can get it at some auto paint stores. the reason, is it tends to etch and stick to surfaces better than other paints. it is also a very thin paint, it will cover- but doesn't leaves (mil's) of paint on the surface.

I painted mine with Eastwood's radiator paint. Just do a light coat or two.

The easiest way to hide it is to send to me to hide on my car. :D

I imagine after alot of driving you'll have to repaint because of the bugs so I don't know if good paint will help the cause.

food for thought

From an engineering point.... (IMHO) black paint will tend to make something retain heat better.... not reject it.... so IMHO painting a radiator or an intercooler (black) is a bad idea....

I could be wrong... my feeling above is just IMHO... and I have not done any formal calcualtions.

The color of the surface effects the "emmissivity" I think.... which changes how efficiently it transfers heat.

Again... I could be wrong.

Edit:

I'm reading on it now.... my hunch above appears to be incorrect... will post up when I get to the bottom of it.

Thats why if painting an ic with anything the choice of a thermally more effective RADIATOR paint should be the smarter choice like on a radiator.

It appears the best deal is to plate it... like electro-plating.... like anodize it.

The issue with painting is that if it is very thick at all... it can reduce the airflow enough to cause it to hinder the cooling performance rather than enhance it. Anodizing it... the "color" is more like a die... and has a very small thickness as opposed to paint.

It does appear that black will transfer heat better..... I guess that is why the smart folks at GM painted our SLIC's black?
