I have a nice 30 over stock block but the front of the block (behind the cam) thrust face is gauled from the cam failing and pushing back and chewing up the block.

I have heard something about a Joe Mondello block repair kit that allows you to grind out the cam thrust surface and put a repair plate in.

has anyone ever had experience with this type of repair. otherwise the block is pristine and ready to go.

tia for any tips.

hey

well im not really going to be much of help but a local machianc of mine has been gettting so called junk blocks because of this probelm. well he had a buddy of his make a c and c program to make a breaing that goes in there and what he does is drill out the hole and get this guy installed in there. i wish i knew more but he doesnt really talk about it because it his little secret

I thought about using a torrington roller bearing for behind the timing chain. and with the block out of the car it can be machined for one.

that would work. the modello kit I think was a steel thrust plate.

anyone know about this fix??? good way to save an otherwise good block.

tia for any thoughts.
