Is it possible to eliminate the EGR with out removing intake?

TIA

O.K..........................................what is the best way to block it off? Do you just remove all the EGR related stuff and block off the hole or whatever that is left in the intake?

First, remove the valve & its attached hardware. Then, use the EGR base as a template on the material you choose to use for the block-off plate.

HTH :)

Why are you removing the EGR? I find it works great for keeping part-throttle/cruise knock down and it help reduces emissions. What's the gain of removing it?

It adds heat to the intake manifold.
Takes excessive timing to be able to burn it.
Depending on how much backpressure the exhaust has it can be forced open at WOT.

Emissions? HMM, I run race gas on the street...;)

I am taking out everything in, on , and around the car that I either do not like or do not use/need.

Weight reduction on most things, and under the hood I am trying to clear out alot of the clutter stuff......When I'm done with the project GHOST I'll post pictures and you will see what I am after....clean, cool, and FAST!!:D

If you're going to remove the EGR, there's more benefit to taking off the intake. Then you can grind off the "hump" at the EGR port, and fill in the holes, leave everything smooth for better air flow. Gives you a chance to install a power plate, too.

Recom keeping the egr on it wont hurt the cars performance at all.To many guys haveing problems with part throuttle knock with egr valve disabled.Even with the chip reburned.Just my two cents. :)

EGR = Excess Garbage Removed

Chipmakers routinely utilize the chip space formerly dedicated to the EGR for other programming commands, so at that point it's superfluous.

Say "Good-bye", EGR! :)

No EGR control in the Extender or the Max Effort(I think) is a good reason to eliminate and weld closed the holes.

EGR has a rubber diaphram. On a 16 year old car, chances of the diaphram leaking are very good.

Anyone know what the price for the egr block-off plate is?
Conrad

I believe it cost 15-20 bucks at cottons performance thats where i got mine got that egr off as soon as i could no issues whatsoever with driveability at idle and or wot sure looks cleaner on my intake.

If you're getting some knock at part throttle with the egr gone, ya have more of a problem than that. The EGR isnt active and the valve is closed the min you put on the throttle, so if it is active during part throttle, ya got a problem in that line somewhere.

So what if you have a chip that eliminates the egr but under boost it blows open anywhere from a little to a lot what is going to happen, will it cause knock or what, will the ecm make to proper corrections or ????

TIA
HOW

just welded mine shut
